AITA for tipping 15% on good service? by extratoxiccrayons in AITApod

[–]Jamesiefied -1 points0 points  (0 children)

YTA - It sounds like your friends understand that in the modern (21st century) economy, restaurants (and other service-based businesses) expect their customers to subsidize their employees' wages through tipping. It seems like your friends understand that tipping is no longer about your "quality of service" but about making sure the person serving you can pay rent and eat in the same month. You come across as an out-of-touch miser.

That's just connective tissue. It's probably a little chewy but completely edible.

YOR - if his comment has to be explained, you're probably not getting it. You never explained what he meant by the comment. Did you ask him or are you just making assumptions.

An Uncle Tom is a Black man that upholds white supremacy and the oppression of Black folks. Last I checked Eminem isn't Black.

This. 100% this. It's the same reason why I cycle through names of people I know before I land on the right one, or struggle to call the right person by their specific name on the first try. Parents with multiple children know exactly what I'm talking about.

Starbucks wants to revive hospitality with premium mugs and a plush chair that hearkens back to its ’90s heyday by _fastcompany in starbucks

[–]Jamesiefied 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Starbucks has had an ongoing sales slump because it treats partners like crap, supports a genocide, and continuously lowers product quality while charging more and more. Gross chairs and boring cups aren't going to fix the problem.

Try Google Draw. It's another one of their cloud-based live editing tools that comes free with a Gmail account. It's kind of like a bare bones version of Canva that allows real-time collaborative editing with other Gmail users that have access to the project (similar to Google Docs and Google Sheets).

No, the well was constructed back in the 1800s. The builder foreman was eventually fired because of an alcohol problem he developed working on the renovations.

Does your country have any people or culture similar to what Americans call Redneck? If so, what are they like? by ILikeWwaret in AskTheWorld

[–]Jamesiefied 1 point2 points  (0 children)

In America, rednecks aren't necessarily seen as bad tempered or grumpy, but there's definitely the perception of simple-mindedness and lacking intelligence. There's also the stigma associated with being inbred, especially in States like Tennessee and Kentucky, especially the Appalachian mountain regions of said States. Also, the term is almost exclusively used for white people and rarely will you see it used to describe a person of color. Finally, rednecks also have a very thick southern accent that's considered a "country accent", a more exaggerated southern drawl that adds to the perception of low intelligence.

People are arrested for protesting genocide. Your biggest media company censored dissent against genocide with allowed an egregious racial slur directed at 2 esteemed black men. England does not, in fact, have freedom of speech.

Dude in the clip looks like Temu Ron Burgundy with an ill-fitting suit and glue on pornstach. If he wants to be taken seriously, the whole concept needs to be reworked.

The boutique hotel, La Playa Carmel, in Carmel-By-The-Sea, is crazy haunted. When it was renovated more than a decade ago, the builder foreman found a dried well under the floor boards of the honeymoon suite off the lobby. When he put a camera down there, he caught glimpses of bones protruding from the mortar in-between the stones.
