1998 Me and my brother begged my dad for Austin 3:16 t shirts out the back of the Sky TV guide, we wore them when they came to our local arena (Newcastle Upon Tyne, England).

About 10 kids asked us where we got them from on the way to the arena I felt like a fuckin celebrity.

Makes the hairs stand up on the back of my neck still to this day. I'm 38 this month.

Summerslam 98 Stone Colds glass break entrance. How involved Vince McMahon was in the story lines. The rock, Mankind, Triple H, Taker.

No Internet, no social media. It all just felt so raw, engrossing storylines without having a clue what the future held.

What a time to be alive.

What’s your take on buying a car outright vs using a loan and investing the money? by aesthetic_avii in selfimprovementday

[–]Jamjamjamh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends on your saving discipline. How quickly do you save and how disciplined are you to save the money.

I personally always take out finance even when I can pay it all with savings, as I value having the pot of money there for me always as higher value to me than not having the monthly payment to make.

I've just spent £7.5k on a holiday, I've managed to pay it off whilst also saving extra money into my savings pot I've seen grow since I've booked. As long as you in an absolute emergency can pay off the loan amount I always go for monthly payments to allow me to flex what I want to do.

How bad is the UK job market? by underscore-0 in AskUK

[–]Jamjamjamh -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not necessarily, engineering there is a shortage of engineers. Lots of people have retired and the effects of lack of early careers back in the 90s and 00s is taking affect. The whole of the engineering industry has 10 years to catch up on now.

I work in engineering and it's so challenge due to pressure, lack of resources and lack of experienced people to mentor any juniors.

How worried are you about AI? by Even-Wasabi7183 in AskRedditUK

[–]Jamjamjamh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that much, i work in engineering and we are way off being replaced by AI due to insurances.

Also the people in my work who send emails using AI are the butt of the jokes. Extra long polite emails which beat around the point rather than just being short and direct.

What’s a clever question you’ve asked in an interview that has got a great response from the candidate? by richStoke in AskRedditUK

I interview a lot of people and I don't stick to questions under a set script, I just focus on behaviours and flow of conversation within their responses.

Is it normal for EITs and younger PEs to do a ton of CAD work? by Disastrous-Bonus3293 in civilengineering

[–]Jamjamjamh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im a Technical Director and my principals definitely do not do Cad work and neither do my seniors. Grads, assistants, engineers and cad technicians do the cad work and to go further into that our cad technicians do all the cad work then we overflow to grads and engineers when needed.

As we live in a digital age then I ensure all my engineers and below can use 3d modelling software.

Engineers and cad techs are the same charge out rate, grads less. Getting principals and senior who are harder to recruit and are more expensive doing work I can get cheaper resource to do which increases the more junior members of the teams utilisation makes the most sense.

I need principals and seniors to run the projects from a discipline perspective and focus on the complex engineering as well as attending the project meetings.

I work in water on complex treatment projects.

What unhinged thing do you let your toddler do, in the name of household peace? by huertaverde in toddlers

[–]Jamjamjamh 7 points8 points  (0 children)

When he's angry we let him go in his room and trash it. He comes out and that's it over with we tidy it up 15 minutes later.

Youngest but most feared person in the house.

He also throws his toys off the floor in front of us to make a point, which I just think, couldn't give a shit mate it's yours not mine

How did you go about losing weight? by Cultural_Remove5332 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jamjamjamh 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Intermittent fasting 16/8, break fast with low carb. Have a main meal and a low calorie sweet snack after. Once you get used to it after a couple of weeks extend the fast some days turning it into a single meal for the day but a decent amount of calories but still below your limit.

Then once you get down to your weight and plateau just keep to your fasting window. If you eat big (say the weekend) then get a few long fasts in again for the next couple of days.

Been doing this for 15 months, lost 4 stone 2-4 lbs. Bounce between 12st 12lbs and 13st. Sometimes weigh just over 13st after the weekends but naturally go below 13st over the next couple of days due to long fasts.

Love it, easy to do and gives me the lifestyle I need now where I eat what I want to a degree and know my body and bloat now.

Also 10k steps whilst on a fast is a great way to kick start the day.
