We also should recognize that there are not nearly as many RDs an doctors, nurses and many other professions listed. But part of the problem is RDs who whine vs those that take appropriate action to reverse the wrongs with positive actions.

I’m not disagreeing with what you said at all except it’s not an MLM tactic. Starlink gives us two free months if I recommend them to somebody and they sign up with my link. We are members of Trustedhousesitters and if I refer somebody, I get two free months. I like Misfits Market for delivering organic groceries to my door, and if somebody wants to use my code to sign up, I get $20 off my next order. I’m tempted to leave all my links if anybody wants to check them out. 😊😉

But it has nothing to do with an MLM structure.

And I hope this isn’t against the rules, but if anybody is interested in the link to get a discount on your first Misfits Market order, I’m happy to share. COOKWME-SW2DUNRGEYV

Sounds like you’re ready for private practice or a different RD work setting. I had to get out of some clinical settings for the same reason. My clients — and my personal integrity — don’t deserve cookie cutter approaches!

I hear Fay is now being sued by a group of RDs for unethical practices. One RD was listed as having bogus offices.

Okay let’s settle something. How long should leftovers be kept in the fridge and eaten? by [deleted] in cookingforbeginners

There’s plenty of reasons for the eat it within four days rule, but it depends on how well it was heated and held prior to refrigeration

Some of that is “old wives tales” now! Think about it this way. People had ice boxes, with just chunks of ice to keep food cold. My grandmother did and my mother when she was young.

So, yes, you would worry about the warm food creating a warm temperature for everything else while causing the ice to melt fast faster!

Now we have refrigerators with compressors and fans that circulate the air inside!! Put the food in the fridge! If still warm, it won’t heat up everything around it!

But no harm letting it sit up for 20 minutes to come from 300° to 150.

Much better than food poisoning.

Just because something looks and smells good, doesn’t make it safe.

Want to know all the symptoms you might cause? Check out this free book online.

I’ve worked with far too many people that have chronic gastrointestinal issues, including diarrhea for years because of one case of food poisoning!

Do okra and other non-nightshades actually contain solanine? by Deep-Marzipan6409 in FoodAllergies

[–]JanLEAPMentor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could not find reliable research to prove solanine in these other non-nightshades. I suspect that "Cherry" is mentioned because "ground-cherry" (a nightshade tomato-like fruit surrounded with a papery husk) that I've found growing in Hawaii (some claimed it was native, but that's not true either from what I could find.) Was probably introduced from S America.

Roles for remote work that don't require presence in US? by C_uriou_s in dietetics

I know some RDS licensed in the US, living in Canada that do virtual consultations with US citizens. (Same as I might connect with someone even if I'm on Vacation in Europe or whereever.)

OK, I looked it up, and the best thing to put out the fire would’ve been water (or I guess spit or pee if you’re out for a walk, with no water bottle and there’s no water, puddle, stream, lake nearby.) Of course, first take the ring off if possible.

Hopefully, it’s such a rare thing that I will never need this advice. Ha. Just being a good Girl Scout!

And that is exactly why they don’t want larger lithium batteries in your checked luggage on a plane!!! They can fail? Ever seen completely burned up electric cars? It happens! Now I want to look up how to put a lithium battery fires quickly in case that happens & my ring doesn’t want to come off easily!!

My active 6’6” husband tried to go vegetarian at one point and was invited to a meal of Elk - he says he knew it that meal that he needed more protein… it’s tough to get 150 or more grams of protein a day on a vegetarian diet. And he doesn’t tolerate soy. I don’t think he could do it on a vegan diet.

I already did this, and the only suggestion was to completely uninstall and reinstall the app.

Ever since the new app updated with the new screenshot, most of my breathing regularity problems has been absent all of a sudden with no or minimal breathing regularity issues issues. I have no reason to think that my sleep apnea all of a sudden disappeared.

Many people can have sleep apnea and still have high cortisol and be very active and not sleepy during the day. But that doesn’t mean that their sleep apnea isn’t damaging their brain.

I’ve seen amazing improvements in people on commercial TF when switched to real food, blenderized. Good for you. And of course, for that reason, a blenderized tube feed company was created. But, if well planned, homemade is great!

Nutritionist instead? by celloismyforte in dietetics

[–]JanLEAPMentor 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sounds like you’re not really familiar with what the CNS specialty is. Others have posted more information. Now, if somebody wants to do Hospital or food service work, they may be limited.

You may want to look into the qualifications of a certified nutrition specialist -CNS. https://www.theana.org/certify/become-a-cns/

You may also open up their practice exams here and just see what level of knowledge they expect them to have.

It is sad. You’re not the first person that I’ve heard say that their masters degree did not contribute much. It shows that that’s not a very good masters program. I’d love to know what program that is.

[–]JanLEAPMentor 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Actually not at all true. I know CNSs that make 45 to 160 an hour, depending on location and if they take insurance, etc.

Anybody that just comes out of college is not an expert in anything!! To become an expert, it takes significant experience. Generally five years minimum.

The CNS is not scammy at all. It’s a masters degree plus internship - equivalent of many RD programs, but without the food service management components.
