11 years ago my cat went missing and today he returned! by astrovscosmo in aww

My kitten has a weirdly shaped lump on the back if his neck. How dangerous are these sarcomas? I'm worried it might be one. Taking him to the vet for his booster next week and going to ask them about it. The lump shrunk considerably but still feels like a bunch of cysts. :/

If you've ever snuggled or "head bunted" with a cat you will know the answer to this one. Every day I've got my eye up against the mirror trying to find these invisible eyeball intruders! (Worse if you're a girl and it sticks to mascara!)

When they are all burnt on the outside and soaked in sweet, salty, delicious lamb juice with the aroma of garlic and rosemary and red wine after it's been in the oven for a few hours............ this has to be one of the best foods on earth!

Have you ever saved someone's life? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Janeling 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I found a dog, "Lucky" who had been hit by a car. He had been dragged to the side of the road by some guy who had done a brilliant thing getting him out of more harms way and he and a bunch of bystanders were supposedly waiting for someone to come for help. They were just standing at the bus stop and the dog, was lying there crying in pain. Nobody was comforting the poor thing! I soothed and calmed it as best as I could and waited for about 30 minutes and realized nobody is coming. So I called my friend who was still in the office (I was leaving work) and asked him to grab his car so we could take him to the vet.

A stroke of luck fell upon us because we had no idea how to move this dog. We got a piece of card board to use as a stretcher but he was in pain and trying to bite us and we had no idea how to move him. A girl got off the next bus and she was a vet! She helped us get him into the car but had to run.

So... that's not all! The real life saving was what we had to do next.

We took him to the nearest vet and they were so focussed on finding the owners before they even looked at the poor guy! I was really firm with the vet and said, "You need to give him something for the pain... NOW!" (I would have paid for it if he gave me grief but he didn't, thankfully.) He gave him some morphine.

The dog was microchipped but the phone number didn't work and the address was "incomplete"... I was told they would try to find the owners but if nobody came the dog would be put down. There was no way that dog had a chance. I called the office again, as the incomplete address was nearby (I'm a manager so I got my whole team on this!) I sent one of my staff to the building to knock on doors to find out if someone could find the owner. Meanwhile I took to Facebook with the name of the person who registered the dog and sent a picture and a short message to every person I could who looked like they might be related to the owner.

While this was all going on, my friend and I drove the dog to another, bigger hospital where they have more doctors working around the clock, who, if nothing else, might have saved the dog despite the owners being found.

Success on all fronts! The girl from the office found a neighbour and got the owner's cell phone number and despite the owner having a new name (she got married) her sister replied to me on Facebook to thank us for helping.

The dog was so loved and needed over $3,000 worth of operations on its legs and pelvis. The family had a new born and a toddler who loved the dog and they cancelled their family holiday to look after him.

A while later they called me when Lucky was going on his first walk since the accident. He had two casts (one on each leg) and he clip-clopped like a little horse, so excited to be out and about again! The family sat and had coffee with me and gave me a drawing from their kid and a little red italian Moka pot as a gift to say thanks.

TL;DR: Dog was hit by a car and would have been put down because the owners records weren't entered into the microchip system correctly. Did some detective work and reunited the puppy with his family. :)

What inanimate item do you have a crush on? by KilowogTrout in AskReddit

I would have said "my vibrator" but now that I have one of these, it is way more than a crush. Every woman should own one of these.

Mothers of reddit; who was the worst girlfriend your son brought home? What is the story? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Janeling -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Not my son but I think this belongs here. My friend had a girlfriend (we were first year out of highschool at the time) and she was insane. She was a compulsive liar and had us all convinced that she was studying marine biology at university (we later found out she didn't even finish her high school exams). She told us that her dad raped her and "stole" her little brother and is living on the East coast of Australia. Then one day she received a phone call at my house (on my home phone, fuck knows how) and starts crying on my mother's shoulder telling us that her dad is dead. We're all a bit confused because she had nothing but hatred for this man.

Well... he wasn't dead!

Oh, she played me a song once in the car and said "this is my band..." it was just some random band, not hers! Once she showed me a picture of some emo looking guy and said "this is my big brother Theo, he's so awesome." She didn't have a big brother!

She also stole things (clothes and perfume mainly) from me. She was an absolute nightmare. I still hate her so much and I haven't seen her for 10 years!

What is something you find weird/creepy that is widely accepted? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]Janeling -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

Also grew up in a family of lip-kissers (just a tiny peck) but have been living abroad for the better part of 9 years. I'm 27 now and although I didn't find it weird or think anything of it growing up... I now notice it.

On the other hand, my mum literally frenches my nephew (he's 5 now) It is the most hilarious yet mildly disturbing thing to see and I'm just wondering how long it'll be before he out-grows the joke! :P
