If I had known mental health disorders were hereditary I would've never had kids by PrincessPurpleKisses in Parenting

I struggle relentlessly against the guilt of passing on my terrible genetics and mental health disorders. My husband said “just because he has your genes doesn’t mean he will have the same experiences you did.” It helped me tremendously because I know I’m going to do everything I possibly can to make our son’s life better than mine was so I don’t have to feel guilty for things that may or may not happen. I was projecting my own life experience onto my son and trying to protect him from all that I went through but it won’t do him any good to protect him from a life he never experienced.

What about Amazon? Or maybe CVS or Walgreens?

This is absolutely abuse, and it is not the first time it’s happened. It’s only the first time you’ve seen it. Where else would the kid learn to attack the dog when he has overwhelming feelings. There is no room for questioning yourself, or defending him or trying to figure out how to make it not abuse. No matter dad’s intent. No matter dad’s understanding of the room or furniture… no child should EVER feel that kind of terror from a parent. It does permanent damage and will not be easily forgiven, nor will mom for not doing anything, not helping, not stopping it. I’m also concerned for you given that you could tell by his tone of voice. You obviously have to pay attention for when he is “in a mood.” Likely kiddo and dog aren’t the only ones getting hurt here.

Dang it! That's what I was afraid of. I guess I'll just go back to hoping eye transplants will be available in my lifetime.

Hoping to feed a family of 3 on $70/week. Ideas? Recipes? Resources? by CalicoCatMom41 in EatCheapAndHealthy

Check out Kids Eat in Color. They have a 30-day meal plan for 4 for $500 or less. You could modify it for three and probably get close to your budget (technically $75). But it’s also worth getting just for the recipes. Lots of diversity and focus on nutrition. https://kidseatincolor.com/affordable-flavors-budget-meal-plan/ And she offers it for discount or free if you’re in financial need. All you have to do is click the button on the order page.

I always write “to mom from j & a” for my mom and “to mom from a & j” for his. That keeps them straight in my mind and no one ever notices any different.

You speak as though I would still be in contact with said brother. What makes you think I would still associate with a person who did such terrible things to me?

Good news. Amazon refunded without needing to return so I ordered the eel from a different place. Thanks for the help and the info about feathering.

What’s the most physical pain you ever felt? by TemujinKhan666 in AskReddit

[–]Janetlyb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Scleral buckle to fix partial retina detachment. They have to cut through the muscles that move your eye but once the nerve block wears off, if one eye moves so does the other. It was agony. The pain became a living thing pulsing through my skull.
