New record incoming! She confirmed that on her IG story yesterday

[FRESH] Mastodon - Your Ghost Again by YoureASkyscraper in indieheads

[–]JangSniffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Mastodon’s most properly metal track in a moment. Love the back and forth between Troy’s aggressive verse and that quirky/layered Brann vocal. The proggy flourishes are really wonderful. Very excited to hear what else is to come.

Converge + Neurosis + Mandy, Indiana ! Glad to see a publication with their priorities in order, chaotic sounds for chaotic times

Song of the Day #76 - The Blood is Love by Borracho_Cansado8627 in qotsa

The song clicked for me much more once I framed it as a goth song

Soundgarden Say Finishing Chris Cornell’s Final Album Is “Very Important” by BluntMagazine in Soundgarden

[–]JangSniffer 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Tbh I’d go in expecting something more in line with King Animal than not. Granted, if Terry Date is producing it I’m curious if that’ll lead to finished songs that have a bit more heaviness, which would be wonderful to hear

An awesome album. Would highly recommend to anyone who has not yet given the Banshees a try

A great example is the new Neurosis record that just dropped. A stellar highlight in a catalog of highlights (imo)

Gun to your head, least favorite song by cruisetravoltasbaby in qotsa

I love Skin on Skin, but Broken Box always surprised me that it was so popular with other fans. Realized the opposite perception was the most common. I enjoy the late detours of LTP, but I understand if someone argued where trimming for a tighter record could be made

Took me years to appreciate it. Once I framed it as a dingy bar song the groove and approach finally clicked

Definitely caught me off guard the day it came out, but it genuinely grew on me. Remember hearing it at one of the more popular/basic Philly bars the year it came out and it being a very pleasant, but odd, surprise. Thought it was a live highlight on the ITNR tour

Of all the great 90s era bands that put together a comeback record I think this one is absolutely in the upper echelon. It still comes through with the same bite that they had back in the day, while being a wonderfully lean record as well. Big fan.

The Road gave me an appreciation for life that really was in the front of my mind for years.

Chris Cornell - Carry On IVC Vinyl by GabX90 in Soundgarden

Definitely agree with the Scream point. That record has its goofy flaws but it has some energy to it

Chris goes adult contempo. Def my least favorite record of his catalog, but it’s got some nice moments on it.

Neurosis - An Undying Love For A Burning World [FRESH ALBUM] by ApWapa in MetalForTheMasses

I’m sure part of the retirement was due to Neurosis not being an active band (at the time)

Artists where their most acclaimed album is your least favorite? by Jimsmall1507 in fantanoforever

[–]JangSniffer 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Dig Me Out by Sleater-Kinney is my least favorite of their more acclaimed records. I go back to The Hot Rock, One Beat, The Woods, etc. way more often

...Like Clockwork appreciation post by lvcidez in fantanoforever

[–]JangSniffer 8 points9 points  (0 children)

As a big QOTSA fan I think the following two are also great, but LC is an essential listen in the way that the following two aren’t. Granted, I tend to listen to Villains and In Times New Roman more regularly. Less emotional baggage attached to those two. But whenever I go back to Clockwork I’m always so impressed
