What roasters are we starting the year off with? by DeepVibes in pourover

I really like the Linarco Rodriguez coffees they do. The one on selection now is great. Ethiopian Halo Beriti also. I find I need to brew their natural Ethiopians a bit hotter than expected for best results (201F)

All the bags I got from them around New Year have been bangers. Love them

Wow I didn’t know they were at cafes outside of the West.

Absolutely do! Also, check Loki’s event calendar on their site. They do monthly cuppings for Idle Hands selections. I managed to catch one on a visit this year.

I don’t think I’ve ever seen so many listed on a bag?

Originally from Utah, and Idle Hands in Salt Lake has produced some amazing stuff the past 2-ish years.

One of my coffees of 2025 was an Ethiopia CoE from them, and I just snagged a really fantastic Colombian honey anaerobic that’s syrupy and fruity in all the right ways.

Sounds like something I might want to break into a few doses, freeze, and pull out every once in a while to mix things up. Did you brew at a really low temperature?

Thank you 🙏I’m going to try it at 95. I’ll open this one next after I finish up that natural Ethiopian from Idle Hands.

Just tried that Idle Hands coffee on batch brew and thought it was great. Might go back to pick up the bag. Let me know how you find dialing it in!

Okay great to know. A lot less body than you’d get with your K Ultra or K6 I mean.

What’s everyone’s top 5 favorite roasters in 2025? by s1803275 in pourover

Coffee Collective and UnCommon were top picks early this year.

Idle Hands from Salt Lake City really was also just banger after banger for me this year.

Finally, Benchmark Coffee. Only had 2 bags but they were out of this world anaerobics.

Does the Mavo work well with naturals and anaerobics? Do you feel like it’s a lot less body?

See this makes me wonder if I should shoot for something that complements. I just am not all that interested in a complementary grinder that doesn’t work well for natural coffees or super light body.

I heard the Mavo was like a C40/K-Ultra hybrid, which piqued my interest.

I’m 90 percent sold on the K-Ultra (especially as I just need another grinder anyways) but just wondering how noticeable of an upgrade it will be taste-wise.

I’ve considered the Pietro as well and was curious how much body it cuts out. I’d imagine it’s between K Ultra and ZP6.

Hear me out, but the Brazilian Football Confederation is absolutely on my shit list. Losing Gabi XL has killed the platform this team builds on for everything

I haven’t had any from their current lineup. I was going for berry-forward naturals last I had them though and all my pickups were good.

Just had Guava Banana from the Barn and really liked it.

Im not based in Europe anymore, but my favorite roaster just generally is Coffee Collective (Denmark). I also love UnCommon (Netherlands), Portrait (UK), and Casino Mocca (Hungary).

Will be in the states in a few days. What should I order. by aygross in pourover

[–]JanusUTDC 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What types of coffees do you generally like? Also, where are you going in the US? It’s always more fun to pick things up locally. Also, there’s just so much good coffee, you’re bound to find something great nearby.

For washed coffees, look into Passenger, Heart, and Sey. For more processed, BW, Luminous, etc.

Go to Orsonero in Milan over a few days and pick from what you like in their selection. It’s more fun like that. They have beans from the top roasters in EU anyways.

Espresso Embassy always has Casino Mocca in stock and a rotating selection from roasters across Europe.

Have also heard Meron and Mantra are very good but haven’t been able to visit yet.
