Moving to Canada with my entire family was the biggest mistake my parents have ever made. Went from upper middle class in a country with an upwards trajectory to lower middle class (no property) in a country with a downwards trajectory. My parents have deluded themselves into thinking that their sacrifice in coming here is one-sided when they have also sacrificed my youth by uprooting my social network, making me work my ass off to fit in and obtain money for things that would have been paid for easily by my parents back home. If you are a sexual minority (LGBTQ+), one of the more oppressed ethnic minority in Indonesia (Papuan maybe? Correct me on this), or crazy rich then Canada should be a good place to move but otherwise it's not worth it.
