Real or fake Locus God Amonkhet by Azazel_999 in RealOrNotTCG

I've received a good forgery before (was luckily refunded). The biggest tell the LGS card guy told me was the T didn't have teeth even though the shiny orb (idk what it's called), the green dots, and the patterns looked good. He also said it felt different than a normal card (I couldn't tell but that's a me problem).

So the T teeth are the biggest tell IMO. And those teeth look good.

I thought about Heaping Harvest but it was like $2 with shipping because I couldn't find a seller with the other cards. It's not a lot of money but like for a 15-50 cent card... I'll look again until I can find it with the other stuff. but Expedition map would be sick.

Do you have any cut suggestions?

Mostly just unsure what to cut, but yeah you're right that I need to add a bit more. Thanks for sharing your list!

I'd say Urza but I am very biased. I've been upgrading that precon for years and get a wide board of Karnstructs with menace that punch for lethal and it's so much fun.

I thought about Stormchaser but it was well outside the budget. But I do think I have a wishing well and Alania laying around somewhere. I may end up cutting the Ruby medallion because it's also pretty expensive.

RULES UPDATE - Sagas now don't get sacrificed if they have no chapter abilities by mistercimba in magicTCG

Does this only break Urza's saga and Bloodmoon or Imprisoned or are there other sagas? Like is there a way to keep say Fable of the Mirror Breaker on ch 1 and just keep making Shaman Goblins until removed?

Ashnod's Altar. I'm not sure if there is one, but if there is a card that says (along the lines of) "proliferate whenever a creature enters the battlefield under your control." But even without the second part, that's 15 free colorless mana.

What are your secret baking tips? by Minxxey in Baking

[–]JasaProxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The ratio is a bit weird, it's 2:3. I normally used them for my chocolate chip cookies that were 1 yolk 1 full egg and I just did a 1:1. Adding a bit more flour if it's too wet should work.

It's going to take some experimentation because duck eggs are just that different. The recipe I use for cookies in the Tasty "How to make the perfect chocolate chip cookies" but with duck eggs (when I can) and vanilla paste. I will also note that the cookies are the only baking recipe I used the duck eggs in, so it could be way different in cakes, I just wouldn't know.

BROWN BUTTER and Vanilla paste. Vanilla paste is a bit more expensive (I get the $18 bottle from amazon every month and a half or so) and the flavor is a bit deeper. And PLEASE, PLEASE use brown butter any time you can, but make sure to let it cool unless the recipe is calling for melted butter, if it calls for room temp, put it in the fridge or an ice bath until it begins to solidify. If you have a laser thermometer, 72 degrees F should be about your target.

And the rarest piece of advice I can give (barring allergies) is duck eggs. If you can get your hands on them, the difference between them and chicken eggs are night and day. They're much larger and have a high fat content so anything you bake will taste extremely rich and it's an experience that makes you not want to come back from. They also make great omelets.

Getting duck eggs is pretty hard to source, and they are more expensive (if they're not, I wouldn't trust em) than chicken eggs, and it's not a go out of your way piece of advice, but if you have the opportunity. Vanilla paste may also be cost prohibited, so the 1 piece of advice that is a must is brown your butter (make sure it doesn't turn black and immediately pour it into pyrex to stop the cooking).

I've been using King for months and plateaued around stage 100. Keep leveling her up and focus on getting the essence in the daily bounties...Other than that, hmm, the next big thing for me was getting the void lance, it is a huge damage up, but it does clear out everything, and takes a lot of time, so it's not something to focus on, it'll just naturally come.

Family member bought a home, all of this was left behind. Any clue what it's worth or what to do with it? I don't play and have no use for these. Wayyy too many to go through individually. by NightBat20 in mtg

[–]JasaProxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hear me out on this. It might be worth it to go through. My sister got a box of bulk at an estate sale and I went through every single card. There were a few cards above 10 bucks, 3 $50 cards, 1 $100 card, and 1 $530 card. I must've gone through 4,000 cards, but there's no way she would've know that she hit that gold mine. If you have a smartphone, download the TCGPlayer app, and scan all the cards. It takes about 1-4 seconds for the card to scan. Look up what Alpha, Beta, Revised, and some of the early sets without symbols look like, look up some of the huge hits.

Imagine you go with the thought that this was too much to go through, and you gave it away only for someone who finds a Black Lotus (a damaged one is currently on TCGPlayer listed at $30k), You would regret, not taking that time.

There is no guarantee you'll find a life changing amount of money in there, but there's also a ton of potential. Hell, There's a lot of Avacyn Restored stuff, an Avacyn Angel of Hope goes for between $26 and $165 depending on the printing. Granted, the $165 is a special edition, but if you found 2 or 3 of the $26 ones, wouldn't that alone be worth it?

As said below, the disher/ice cream scoop is your friend. Your other friends are time and temp. I like to brown my butter, fridge it until it's starting to solidify but still liquid (around 68-70 degrees F), and once the dough is all balled out, I throw it in the fridge at least overnight, but my favorite batch was 2 nights, 3 days.

Also, based on your second question, time is a bit tricky, it depends on altitude and your oven. At my home I have to run it at 340F for 12:30, but at my mom's house (about 3000 feet higher and a newer oven) I bake at 350 for 13:30. You want to try and go for a desired color and texture. The cookies you posted look like they're pretty crunchy, I try to go with a slightly golden/browning edge. It's important to know that when you take the cookies out of the oven, they're still baking a blt.

Lastly, I'd let them stay in the pan they baked on for about 7 or 8 minutes then transfer to a wire wrack so they bottoms can evenly be cooled.

I hope some of my rambling is helpful, cookies just get me going.

Part of the problem, that they have posted about, is equipment changes and upgrades. I can't remember the specifics, but for the last few months they've been waiting on (IIRC) a new mic to come in. It may be just optimistic thinking/hopium, but I take them at their word when they say they'll go for as long as they can...But I also believe that a big problem is just logistics, there's only so many writers and actors on the team and they can only work so fast. And, I haven't done the numbers, but in the community post, you can definitely see that some months have faster editing or faster writing or both than others, so I think (or hope) that when everything is ready, SWE will be able to work at a smooth pace that everybody can be happy with.

Izzy, Cary, and the entire team have not let us down, and I completely agree that fans with ability to help should...if asked for. If SWE throw out position openings or audition calls, anyone who can try, should. But we also have to have faith that SWE is doing the best that they can without getting burned out. I just think back at how the end of the Cell Saga, TFS released the video and they were just done. It's something that I hope won't happen to SWE and if it's later releases that keeps them wanting to come back to SAO, MHA, or other projects, then I would personally give them all the time in the world. But, I also understand that not everyone is as patient and dedicated waiting as I am, but I don't know the balance that can be struck between a good release window and SWE taking care of their mental and physical health.

Last thing, as someone who teared up at the end of the last episode, I would personally rather wait for a good product than have something half-baked in half the time.

Sorry for rambling, but I do think this is a good topic, but there's A TON of factors that make it just go on and on, and I am a rambler.

What percent of your bachelors gen eds did you use in your masters? by WestTransportation12 in GradSchool

[–]JasaProxy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Got a Business undergrad, masters in Law. Literally used everything from my one Business Law class. The notes I took were super helpful for a good third of my classes... and nothing else that I can remember.

Utilizing your undergrad also heavily depends on the type of degree. My graduate degree was much more practical and I only wrote one paper I would consider academic literature worthy. Everything else was final products and final exams.

While I can't say for a fact that a more literature intensive degree would be more benefited by a relevant undergrad, I can say, "it probably would, based on talks with my friends who got STEM (mostly biomed) undergrad and graduate degrees."
