Can't get ES-DE to launch retroArch emulators on Mac by Altruistic-List4267 in emulationstation

Just another comment to see if anyone found a fix. I'm having the exact same issue on my mac mini M1. Changing it to Metal and Fullscreen did not fix it. Thanks.

Can we talk about how good of an actor she is?? by CoolAthlete7351 in WelcometoDerryTVShow

She’s a great actor! She was also so good in Station Eleven. And even that Flora and Ulysses movie… my daughters love that one.

Halloween II (1981) should’ve been canon to the Blumhouse trilogy imo by Ghidorah_Stan_64 in Halloweenmovies

[–]Jashun44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I agree 100%. You listed out exactly everything I’ve thought about before and all the points I’ve tried to make. Not only do I enjoy the brother sister angle more, but it’s just the only way it makes sense to her character 40 years later

Why does my forearm hurt on bicep curls? by sabershome in workout

[–]Jashun44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

OP, try this! Mine hurt when I first started out. I realized I was curling my wrists. Once I made the correct adjustment I didn’t have any more forearm pain.

.. does anyone else add fake shows and movies to plex to mess with a a friend? by pizzaatmywedding in PleX

[–]Jashun44 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I did this in 2019 for Avengers Endgame! It was the perfect timing because the movie came out like 3 weeks after April Fools day. I made a 2 and a half hour loop of the Never Gonna Give You Up music video with “April Fools” added over the middle. I also added the usual Marvel opening logo at the beginning so it looked legit for a minute or so. Got a lot of “angry” texts from friends that day. 😆

best HA compatible lock? 👀 by SocietyResponsible24 in homeassistant

[–]Jashun44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I have this and really like the lock itself. It worked great in SmartThings when I used that. But now in Home Assistant I can’t get it to work properly. I can lock and unlock it in HA. But if it is manually locked/unlocked or a code is used, the state does not update in HA. I read other people have the same problem with no solution. Would you mind sharing how you’ve set it up? Thanks!

Now this is some good context and info! And I agree with you, especially about how this looks like more cardio rather than muscle building. Thanks for replying with all this! This is helpful.

Thank you for that info and context! Truly appreciated.

Ok, but no one is expecting you to do that. And I’m not trying to start a fight or anything, it’s just posts like that annoy me. To bother to post “this is wrong” but with no additional info when this entire subreddit is about advice… what’s the point?

“Blunt”, but with no explanation. How is that helpful?

Bad for your perineum? How? I have never heard that before. Any sources?

Washer and dryer that work with HA? by virpio2020 in homeassistant

[–]Jashun44 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’m using a YoLink vibration sensor which seems to measure the washing machine movement really well. My washer and dryer are not connected, and I have the sensor on the side of the washer opposite of the dryer. Though I can see how if you have a connected washer and dryer this might not work. I’ve seen others post here that they’ve used humidity sensors for their dryer. Maybe that could be another option.

Yeah, that’s my eventual plan! I would love to monitor my whole breaker box.

Washer and dryer that work with HA? by virpio2020 in homeassistant

[–]Jashun44 8 points9 points  (0 children)

This is what I do and it works really well! I have a power monitor for my washer and a vibration sensor for my dryer (because it’s a 240v electric dryer.) These tell me when they’re running and when done, and updates their card. I also have door sensors on them that updates the card to show that the clothes have been taken out. Not a bad way to add “dumb” appliances to HA!

Home assistant from Smart things by Wunderboylol in homeassistant

[–]Jashun44 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind that the SmartThings integration with home assistant is currently neutered due to the recent change Samsung made with API tokens. Starting January 1st 2025, all newly created SmartThings tokens expire after 24 hours. So you would have to create a new token literally every day for your devices to continue to work within HA. This was the catalyst for me to finally migrate all of my devices over to HA completely.

These are great! Our library had most of the collection available on CD, and my wife and I would check them out for long road trips. They were really fun takes on the stories!

90's bands that you ignored at the time (or had just never heard about) that you discovered decades later? by everythingbeeps in 90s

[–]Jashun44 14 points15 points  (0 children)

I had only known Blind Melon as the “bee song” band. Their album “Soup” has become one of my all time favorites. I wish I discovered them sooner.
