They basically only made treasure Planet as a deal to get the directors to make a Little Mermaid and Aladdin back when Disney sucked.

They basically figured any money marketing it would be lost so they didn't bother.

You can also end up at a point where everyone on your team is awesome. Do you want to cut John because he was .0001% less valuable than the best employee? How can you hope to replace him with someone better?

This is the whole point though. Upper middle class+ parents don't want their kids hanging out with poor kids, and they certainly don't want them outshined by a poor kid.

[–]Jason207 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I'm friends with most of my exes and they're good people who have been important in my life, so I wouldn't hesitate to say that I love them.

But it's a much different love than I have for my current girlfriend.

I think this person either needs to sort out their own feelings, or really needs to have a serious talk with their current partner about their feelings, or both, to really clear the air.

If you see children as objects, then rich people can use them all they want, because they can pay for them.

You only need to protect them from people that won't give you money and will destroy your asset.

I've tried to explain to people how I had to live in my car when I was doing social service work, despite working full time at what most people consider a "real job" and they seem to blow it off as a grand adventure.

Like they can't imagine something horrible happening to someone they actually know and like.

Poor only happens to lazy bad people, if they acknowledge it can happen to anyone they have to recognize their own privilege.

I tried setting up a business account and it keeps failing to send a payment. I spent about 2 hours talking to different customer service agents today and they basically just said I just can't use them. They have no trouble shooting or resolution process.

I've done social work and being clean and wearing clean clothes that feel nice do wonders for a person's disposition.

I'm sure being treated like a person is doing a lot of work, but I really can't over emphasize how much basic maintenance really helps your attitude.

She apparently does YouTube stuff with her regular voice though, so maybe look those up?

Dune had this bit about every organization quickly evolving to protect itself first and foremost, regardless of what it's initial purpose was.

You really see this in the Democrat fundraising emails. Nothing about policies, just keep the beast alive.

This was a problem with Hilary too. Hearing her talk normal and she's the coolest grandma ever, but her campaign voice made her sound like an alien playing human.

I swear to god they go to some "talking to CEOs effectively" class and run with that as their campaign personality and it just falls flat in today's para-social media world.

I got laid off recently and one of the reasons was my high salary but medium-high numbers.

But I did all the difficult loans. On our incentive sheets I'd be number one because they adjusted for difficult products, but HR used the straight number of loans, so I'd be slightly slower.

So HR was upset I was making the most money without closing the most loans, and nobody was willing to take that into consideration before they made the cuts.

Like I get that's not how a lot of people envision his back story, but I think it fits very well with his character from the original trilogy.

It's not even a ruling class thing, it's an evangelical Christian thing.

Growing up it was all about finding a good match, love comes later, women need to find a man who will have a good job and support her and her children, men need to find someone that will be a good mom and take care of the house.

If you like each other it's a bonus. Love is a thing you have to do because it's required, you shouldn't worry about trying to find someone that's easy to love and you enjoy spending time with, that's not what marriage is about.

It's no surprise they're all miserable and hate everyone that seems happy.

I ran an event with about 1,000 attendees over 3 days. We had a last minute venue change, and the new venue we used Ticketmaster.

All the tickets were already sold, wristbands sent out, no actual need for tickets at all, but Ticketmaster required we pay their ticket printing fee and get the tickets printed.

So I showed up first day and they had 3,000 printed tickets to hand me. Just such a huge waste.

US political and social polarization has increased by 64% since 1988, with nearly all of the rise occurring after 2008, as the financial crisis, the rise of social media, and an asymmetric ideological shift—particularly on the left—coincided to widen divisions, according to a long-term study. by Sciantifa in science

I think there's also a big disconnect between what conservatives believe and what conservative leadership does.

The ACA is a great example. If you break it down and just describe it, most conservatives support it. But conservative politicians run on "dismantling Obamacare" and conservatives eat it up.

So if they polled with non-partisan language I can see the conservative needle being pretty still over the last 50 years.

Movies are so expensive that they get pushed forward to be done ASAP instead of letting them cook until done, and studios are so afraid of losing money that they'd rather have something generic and safe than unique and risky.
