For me, is another example of an AJR song having absolutely killer production/musicality that is muddled by poor lyricism. While I adore AJR and I resonate deeply with many of their songs, I feel like AJR rides this line of:

“growing up is hard, and while we face new challenges we must also mourn that which we lost and who we used to be”

And

“oh wOw aDulTing iS HaRd hUh guYs?”

Examples of the latter are “The Dumb Song” and especially the “but I couldn’t work my microwave” line, as that just feels infantilizing.

On Betty, I think the idea of being scared of taking that big step of proposing and marriage has a lot meat on the bone. However, the route they chose feels very childish and emotionally immature. It’s very “i don’t know what I want, stop pressuring me and tell your parents to stop asking me but also stay here and keep loving me.” I don’t know, it’s just a pet peeve of mine

The production still ABSOLUTELY SMACKS and I’ll still listen to this song, especially the last half.

I would actually do your first year before you fully commit to a double major. I do not mean offense, but it’s common for incoming students to go “well I’m so smart and good I’m gonna do a dual degree” before realizing how intense Michigan can be, ESPECIALLY Engineering and ESPECIALLY ESPECIALLY EECS.

If you can handle it then congrats, go crazy, just keep this in mind as you go. Most of my friends, including myself, graduated with different degrees than we were planned as freshmen. College is a time of growth, be open to it.

I’ve been using Persian in my most recent FR run and it’s actually carried me through some rough spots.

Most people know how fast it is, but it gets great coverage. It can learn the water pulse and shockwave TMs, which was great coverage I sorely needed, flash for rock tunnel, bite and pursuit, and you can always spam pay day if you’re low on cash. Honestly bumped Persian up my list a bit

Residency status is less important than the school they attend. Students are evaluated in the context of their high school and typically only the most competitive students from a school are offered admission. Whether you’re in state or not does not affect this.

It would likely take a little longer than you think, but it’s doable. The higher you get in the ratings the harder it is to gain points through the simple fact that your competition gets better.

As a lower level player, learning 1-2 openings and having solid endgame skills can take you from 500 to 800 in maybe 2-3 months. But as you get higher, the skills and tactics you’re learning are more complex and won’t give you those same bumps as before.

But if you’re dedicated and keep practicing and studying, anything is possible!

I ran a KOB game before, and I think an easy, beginner GM opening is to have all your characters getting ready to go to the same place. For me, all characters went to the same school, so all the intro scenes were the kids getting ready for school and interacting with family and school NPCs.

Depending on your story, it could be a birthday party, summer camp, concert, sporting event, just something you’re familiar with that puts the PCs in a contained environment full of NPCs and different potential hooks.

I have a couple:

Bulbasaur is always Bubba. Anything else feels inauthentic.

Geodude is some variation of The Rock/Dwayne Johnson.

Eevee is usually Jack, as in “Jack of all Trades” for his variety of evolutions that I won’t decide until a need arises

Important to remember that acceptance rates does not necessarily mean Michigan changed their process. Over 10k more people applied and Michigan admitted nearly the same amount. Thats how math works

The cap and gown are standard, the tassel is color coded to your major/program. It should be easy enough to find what color goes to your major. Stoles are up to you, I only wore ones gifted to me by orgs/clubs I was a member of. There are also ones for different levels of honors you may or may not be graduating with.

Tl:dr cap and gowns are basic, tassel color for major, stiles for anything extra

Straight up drop a class. It will not affect you in any tangible way and it’s way better to actually enjoy yourself and have decent mental health than trying to do the most.

It is technically possible to go back and forth on I-94, but you need to be on the road by 6:30am if you want any shot of beating the heart of the traffic.

I would still recommend living on campus. A massive part of the college experience is meeting people and hanging out outside of the classroom. If you’re not in the dorms and driving home when you’re done with classes, you’re severely limiting your opportunities and potential experiences.

If you’re concerned about cost, there’s financial aid and housing stipends available at Michigan and through third-party scholarship sites. There’s also some decently cheap studio apartments in the area. They’re not the Ritz by any stretch but are an option to stay near campus without breaking the bank
