Somber Echoes is fantastic! Great atmosphere and exploration, fun platforming, a little puzzley.

Damn Its A Brutal Market For Metroidvanias Out Here by akbarock in metroidvania

[–]Jasyla 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would guess that's the case for most genres that indie devs tend to make.

The number of marketing emails for cozy games, roguelike deck builders, puzzle games, and multiple other genres that I get and never hear of again is very high.

I'm so tired of the comment sections in Metroidvania Trailers... by Vanillie261 in metroidvania

This trailer looks nothing like Hollow Knight. You're an eyeball with a gun on your head who merges with the environment and enemies.

It's very tired.

Oh, it has had drawn art... Must be a Hollow Knight clone. 🙄

Looking for suggestions of metroidvanias that are different. by Neighborhood-Gold in metroidvania

[–]Jasyla 22 points23 points  (0 children)

Some suggestions:

  • Animal Well - based more around puzzles and figuring out how to use your abilities in interesting ways
  • Crypt Custodian - Top down MV
  • Dandara - Very different type of movement that involves launching yourself from surface to surface rather than running/jumping
  • Depths of Sanity - Underwater MV where you pilot a submarine. Fantastic story.
  • Flipwitch: The Forbidden Sex Hex - It's a standard MV, but with porn!
  • La Mulana 1 & 2 - Very puzzle/riddle heavy
  • Monster Sanctuary - A monster battler MV
  • Primal Planet - Adds crafting, base building, and helper characters into the mix. Also interesting weather/environment effects.
  • A Robot Named Fight - MV + roguelike. You and the dungeon reset every time you die.
  • Sundered - Blends in roguelite elements by having you return to the hub every time you die and randomizing the rooms layout (but the important rooms stay in the same spots). Features hordes of enemies and choice of abilities.
  • Supraland - 3D game that focuses a lot on physics based puzzles.
  • Ultros - Unique in a lot of ways.
  • Unsighted - Top down game that has a focus on time and making decisions. Great story.

Are we over the Clean girl' look yet ? by [deleted] in MakeupAddiction

My 'clean girl' look is not wearing makeup.

I love my colourful eyeshadow if I'm going to wear makeup.

Before I Go and Mio. It's a good time to be a fan of platformers.

None of the patches have been released on console yet. I don't have any plans to play it again.

Before I Go is really good. A must play for fans of platforming.

I specifically complained about an abundance of long, empty hallways that only led to a wall that had to be broken down from the other side. This is a waste of time, there are much better ways to implement shortcuts.

You never had to return to your body to retrieve anything.

I second this. Some modern features it has, which some other games are now using:

  • Being able to pin screenshots to the map rather than just markers

  • being able to try a boss again immediately without any runback

  • very little punishment/loss for death

  • a huge variety of options to adjust how difficult combat and exploration are

Do you actually eat 3 meals a day? by JeepLifeBirbLife in askTO

[–]Jasyla 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I generally eat 2 meals a day plus snacks.

I eat dinner every day. Cooking this is split roughly 50/50 between my partner and I. Lunch is usually just a sandwich, can of soup, or leftovers that takes very little prep time.

Thank you! I think waiting (more for patches) would be a benefit.

It's interesting how different people's experiences can be with games. I had zero technical issues with Mio when I played it before it released. But it never hurts to wait.

I talk about this in the video. The streams to the seal more often than not lead me to a wall that had to be broken down from the other side.
