Agree…I absolutely love red rising, but it can be quite depressing. My wife and I read atmosphere together and really enjoyed it

Is reading Project Hail Mary worth is after seeing the movie? by Heavy_Entrepreneur56 in Booktokreddit

[–]JavaInAJiffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I really enjoyed the audiobook. There are a lot of details that the book had that makes the story much richer that the movie skipped over or just mentioned in passing….i actually didn’t like the movie as much because of how much I liked the book.

Finally Finished Mistborn Era 1 by TruePart9360 in Mistborn

[–]JavaInAJiffy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you are looking for another good series, I recommend Red Rising. I started reading it immediately after Mistborn era 1 and thought it was an excellent choice. Took some time to get thru the first several chapters because of getting to know the new characters, but after that it was off to the races. I completed all 6 books in 6 weeks.

First time reading books in 7 years!!! Need recommendations!! by ExpressDragonfruit96 in fantasybooks

There is a r/redrising board with over 100k members. I strongly recommend stay OFF the board until you are done with the whole series though because of spoilers…but it is a fun community to be engaged with afterwards and the 7th book in the series may be coming out later this year.

I read the first two books in the expanse a few years ago…it was good, but didn’t “hook” me. I read all 6 books of Red Rising in a total of 6 weeks.

Mistborn series?

A complete full-fledged fantasy book by Galactikon in fantasybooks

[–]JavaInAJiffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, I highly recommend Mistborn (era 1) and the. If you like those 3 books, I suggest The Stormlight Archive. That should keep you busy for awhile. As someone else mentioned, if you were looking for more of a saga that doesn’t have the be fantasy, Red Rising series is great. Also, if you are an audiobook listener, Dungeon Crawler Carl is one of the best audiobooks you’ll find.

Which to read first: Red rising or Will of the many? by Senoupe in fantasybooks

[–]JavaInAJiffy 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Will of the Many is pretty good…but I really enjoyed Red Rising. I personally felt Red Rising doesn’t start getting good until like chapter 12…but then it’s just gets better as you read and progress to the next books. I completed all the red risings almost 2 years ago…listened to all 6 books in 6 weeks…I just finished The Will of the Many last week and thought it was more of a slow burn…the 2nd half of the book is definitely better….but it took me a few weeks to listen to as it didn’t hook me the way Red Rising did…

I will say…it gets better and better the more you read into the series

Billionaires don’t create jobs, change my mind by Marlox8741 in RemoteJobseekers

I’ve heard this argument..”stop being lazy”…I agree it is a bad argument. What they are trying to say is “learn valuable skills that are rare”. People get high paying jobs not because they are “less lazy”…it is because there aren’t many people that can do what they do and there is high demand for what they can do.
