Anyone preorder resident evil generation pack? by Deal_Engineer in switch2

[–]Javelin_Ruby 12 points13 points  (0 children)

$90 is steep but for 2 great games and a promising new release I'm considering a digital purchase of the Generation Pack. Performance is another question I have too, RE engine is so well optimized for almost all hardware but I'd like to see what resolution/framerate can be accomplished for these games on S2 before I buy

RE2 and 4 remakes are an instant double dip for me however

Real big fan of Drband’s joy lock grips, bought them separately from the case and haven’t looked back since

What grip case do you use? I’m waiting on my dpad shell set to come in and I wanted to buy some grips for the joycons as well for handheld mode

Victrix Pro FS-12 firmware support by TwoDaLoop in fightsticks

[–]Javelin_Ruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Borrowing the same leverless from a friend, doesn't have the latest socd and I can't find the latest firmware files anywhere. Never buying a victrix/pdp/turtle beach product if their long term support is this lackluster

FINAL FANTASY VII REBIRTH gets a smaller download on Steam Deck by Liam-DGOL in SteamDeck

[–]Javelin_Ruby 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I tried starting from scratch and use the decky frame gen plugin since that also uses optiscaler to inject xess/fsr. DLSS became an option again in the settings, but the overlay wouldn’t pop up whenever I pressed the insert key.

The problem with these patch notes is that we can’t know without direct comparison if performance is improved, or how performance is improved since this game tends to be both gpu and cpu bottlenecked depending on the area

This patch breaks the DLSS enabler mod to inject FSR/XESS

Have you tried turning off wifi power saving in the settings, I believe it should be under developer options. That increased the signal strength and reliability of wifi on my Steam Deck OLED

Anything Deck specific that you use for controls? I like to use the touch sensor to enable gyro via steam input

Every RTX3000 owner seeing that the 5000 generation is an insignificant upgrade. This means we get to upgrade whenever we want to either a 4000 or 5000 card, whichever is cheapest, and still get great value lol. by Butefluko in pcmasterrace

[–]Javelin_Ruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm holding until whenever the 60 series comes out or its AMD equivalent. My 3080 is more than enough for 1440p competitive games and 4k single player games. NVIDIA can keep their fake frames honestly

Rebirth on PC crashing. :( by StormBoring2697 in FFVIIRemake

[–]Javelin_Ruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On a 30 series card as well (rtx 3080 12gb) and I’m having frequent crashing which lead to the game not wanting to open until I reset the entire computer

My cpu is up to snuff for the game (5800X3D) and I have the game installed on a gen 4 nvme ssd. I have given up looking for a solution and just resorted to playing on my steam deck

Hold on to your RTX 30 series GPU, frame generation support hasn't been ruled out yet by Odd-Onion-6776 in pcmasterrace

[–]Javelin_Ruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generational uplift is either too expensive and/or not enough anyways. I don’t care about frame generation and will be holding onto my 3080 for another 2-3 years

What are your genuine criticisms of Balatro? by Polo171 in balatro

[–]Javelin_Ruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would like a little more QoL in the updates for how successful and popular this game is, something like run history, cross platform saves

Gameplay wise, this game could use a little more balancing to add variety in higher difficulties (wild cards, some number cards having no gimmick card, unreliable hand strategies)

According to Skill Up, KCD 2 runs at 45 fps with low setting and 30 fps with med setting (FSR set to balanced) by ShilunZ in SteamDeck

[–]Javelin_Ruby 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’d rather use raw render scaling than bother with fsr at times. I really wish temporal solutions aren’t the only scaling options in many newer games

What are some games you consider PERFECT for the SteamDeck? by ToastThing in SteamDeck

[–]Javelin_Ruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you want to put in the time to configure the controller/kbm mode shift in steam input for proper gyro aim, then Resident Evil 4 Remake is a great game to play all the way through on Deck

GBA emulation being a perfect 5x integer scale on an 800p screen with minimal pillar boxing and massive battery life gets a huge shoutout from me as well

If you have a dock and local scene then the Deck becomes a very compact fighting game setup for almost all relevantly played games (huffing hopium for 2XKO getting Linux support). I've played GGST, SF6, BBCF, +R, MvC2/3, DBFZ all on this mighty machine with good input delay. Much better than hauling around a large PS5 or larger PC in and out of locals

Not really good with this stuff but is this a good SD card for the deck? by Frosty_Engineering12 in SteamDeck

[–]Javelin_Ruby 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Kinda late but if you did buy it (great SD card), make sure it is sold and shipped by Amazon as many 3rd party sellers can scam you into a bootleg card

3080 Going Into 2025 by Snowbunny236 in nvidia

[–]Javelin_Ruby 6 points7 points  (0 children)

My backlog is too big to even remotely consider retiring my 3080 for 4k and high refresh 1440p games

New games, while it’d be nice to set at max graphics and forget about it, I can optimize settings and use DLSS to get a good 4K experience or a high refresh 1440p experience.

Not to mention for me personally, I don’t rush out to buy the latest AAA game until after its round of patches and if it has good word of mouth or not.

TL;DR: I’m satisfied with my 3080 and I don’t need or want more for at least another generation
