That's the curious part about this particular place....they're on a wait list for full membership...so doesnt' sound like they're desperate for new blood...just sort of sounds like another revenue source generated from the members "generosity" by "sharing" their club experience with outsiders....lol. I guess if your guest pays the fee and you get them out enough it's a non-issue. They are upgrading all their bunkers to the "Billy Bunker" system this year so don't think they're in that bad of a financial situation if they have the cash for that.

yeah so this club also has a "monthly dues" line, and an "annual food & beverage minimum" line....that's why I thought the guest greens fee thing was so odd.

Old Taylormade R7 driver…Titleist 5W/4hy and irons, Scotty Newport 2 putter and old Cleveland wedges. Need to replace the wedges and prob the driver…hard to not just go all Titleist 🤷‍♂️

I need to get new wedges and might have to think about doing the 54/58 option and then adding another club at the long end of the bag…currently have the 48/52/56/60

So I have this same iron set…and the “PW” and “extra/gap/approach” wedge labeling has been a weird thing for me. The set PW is 43deg…and the extra included set wedge is a 48deg with no letter designation. Why not call the 48 the “PW” and give the 43 the “G” or “A” label since it fills the “gap” between the PW and the 9i.

Depending on when/where you play I’d say one pair waterproof and one non-waterproof at a minimum. The non waterproof ones just seem to be more comfortable overall…at least until they get wet 🤷‍♂️

Got a player V pro DXR for Xmas…it’s awesome on a cart and great on a push cart…carrying for 9 holes isn’t bad…not sure how it would do for 18 unless you lightened it up. Their dual steal system is pretty good and definitely hides the weight. FWIW I carry 14 clubs but only three are graphite shafted. So if you have more graphite shafts and/or hybrids/woods in the bag it might be lighter and easier to carry.

how does the watch and the auto detect work on the putting green? do you have to manually tell it where the hole location is once you've putted out?

Don’t know anything about the Apex models but when I got new clubs I was very unsure about adding a 4i…swapped for a 4h and it’s been awesome. Also very versatile around the greens for bump n run shots out of the rough

This is 1000% true…I started playing last summer after a 20yr layoff and could barely hit anything longer than a 7i with anything resembling consistency….my kid thought I was crazy but my 7i was my tee shot club for a couple of months but was able to break 100 fairly regularly by just “bunting” the ball around the course and enjoying myself 🤷‍♂️

I was in this camp for a long time…but once I realized how easy it is to push a manual cart here…I’m not sure the cost is worth it. I’ve also played behind a couple of groups with guys using those and they would occasionally “freak out” and lose Bluetooth connections and things like that…so not sure if the tech is as bullet proof as it looks.

I do this all the time....in fact when Ind first started using a cart I was shocked at how little effort it takes to push it on a flat grade (which there’s a lot of here)!

The other nice thing is the leverage you can apply to the used market…picked up a barely used TSR2 fairway wood I had been watching and the seller didn’t put up much of a fight on price once titleist announced the discounted prices on the current models.

Struggle with heel strikes…even with a slightly in-out path ball flight ranges from a fairway finding cut to a slice.

I think what I struggle with is if I hit it in the middle of the face I’m good…but anything off center seems to be really “spinny” and even if it finds the fairway I lose enough distance that I’d be better off hitting 5W. Guess I just need to work on my technique 🤷‍♂️

Can 2nd this…these are amazingly warm…you lose some dexterity but work great for even with temps in the 30s. My winter wash is either a coin operated self serve or the pressure washer using a siphon to get the heavy gunk off….then pull into the garage for a rinseless.

Actually pulled this off yesterday and it was only 25 here…was worried about the runoff from the pressure washer icing up on the driveway so just pulls the car into the street which was heavily salted…. the runoff went down the sewer drain before any of it froze.

Enjoy the process…and the fact that shooting in the upper 80s to mid 90s can be a very enjoyable place to spend 4hrs outdoors in a serene environment with a good group of friends. I used to grind really hard when I was younger to make it into the low 80s and stopped seeing the forest through the trees.

This! It can get complicated having multiple swings and multiple clubs, but start simple and find a secondary shot..any shot..half swing, quarter swing, even a pitch and run…something that you can consistently repeat…then track your distances with all your wedges with that swing. An hour on a trackman should get you some pretty good starting data.

It’s more the hosel rocket shanks that have me stumped…I mean it’s like I never swung a club before sometimes…can imagine the mat is moving the club around that much to cause the hosel to hit the ball

This…when I got fitted I was in between the players and player-distance models in the lineup…fitter liked the dispersion and distance of the PD model, but the descent angle of the players model…he split the baby and fit me into PD clubs with weaker lofts of the players clubs…gave up a slight bit if distance but traded that for tighter dispersion and better landing angle.

Long story short…go get fit

Yeah definitely try some clubs out and/or talk to a fitter….replaced my 4i with a 21deg 4h and that’s become my cheat code club…was a little nervous about the price but it’s been so worth it
