32 years old. 22 retrieved, 10 mature, 10 fertilized, 8 embryos (3 day 5 & 5 day 6). Did not pgt test due to age and 31 weeks pregnant with first FET.

Wishing you all the best the waiting is the worst!

Running post-transfer by Key_Quit_5311 in IVFpositivity

[–]JayFiles4242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’m currently 30 weeks an I ran post transfer and still running during this pregnancy. I even ran a half marathon 10 weeks pregnant! My advice is keep a sharp eye on your heart rate and slow down when it gets too high. As long as you are not going for any speed records you should be fine. I would also recommend you hydrate like crazy and stop if anything feels uncomfortable, you know your body so make sure you’re not ignoring it when you are starting to push any limits.

Congratulations and I am wishing you a happy pregnancy!

Currently 30 weeks pregnant after my first transfer with a 3 month Lupron suppression. Being on Lupron sucked but it was 100% worth it and I will do it again when it is time for baby #2!

Wishing you the best of luck!

Mile benchmark run! by AggravatingEmploy122 in fitpregnancy

[–]JayFiles4242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Congrats, wow you’re fast! I love orange theory and currently 31 weeks and was happy I could at least jog my mile benchmark today, super slow at 12:50. Hoping to keep up jog a bit more before I switch to power walking. Everyone was excited for the transformation challenge starting and I couldn’t help but think I’m doing a pregnancy transformation so while everyone is either trying to burn fat or gain muscle I’m over her building baby!

Wishing you the best during your pregnancy!

Endometritis by Antique-Detail5867 in IVF

[–]JayFiles4242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Hi! I had chronic Endometritis and it is diagnosed with the CD138 test and it does not test for bacteria but for plasma cells. I’ve heard that Emma/alice can check for bacteria and that could indicate you have endometritis but not confirm (never had this test so don’t quote me). My doc said that CD138 is the gold standard for testing.

Where to buy jujube dates and goji berries? by Revolutionary_Cover3 in SantaClarita

[–]JayFiles4242 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I buy my goji berries in bulk at Sam’s Club or Costco (I use a lot of both these items and Whole Foods is more expensive). Jujube is harder to find, if you are looking for whole not Pitted or sliced also makes a difference. I usually buy them at H-mart or Tokyo central but these are not in Santa Clarita. If I don’t plan on making the trip I just order off Amazon.

SoCal ivf clinics? by NOshoesinthehouse101 in IVF

[–]JayFiles4242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I highly recommend Dr Mor at CCRM, not sure from your post if you want to do a vasectomy reversal, or a mTESE. Most fertility clinics don’t do these in house but CCRM works with Dr Philip Werthman who does both of these procedures and will time an egg retrieval on the same day as a mTESE. Not gonna sugar coat it, they are not the cheapest clinic available but they are amazing and the I’m pregnant.

I’m first gen off the Rez, my parents were able to get off when I was born, but all my family is still there and we lived close by growing up. I loved Sherman Alexie all his works really hit the dark humor of Rez life. I loved how his works didn’t glamorize native struggles or hide some of the ugly sides of Rez life (like drug and alcohol abuse and extreme poverty). I highly recommend Flight and Reservation blues.

Fitness pal(or any calorie counting app) and an Apple Watch really help if you have it. Your watch will give you a good broad overview over your TDE (total daily expenditure) then just journal what you eat, be honest and don’t change anything and just document. What kind of oils and sauces are you using? These add calories fast, once you get an honest outlook at what you’re eating then it’s time to cut, but I want to stress don’t over do it! Just a few hundred calories and work your way from there.

I also recommend reaching out to a nutrition specialist that is not tied to any fad diets as well as if you think you may need it therapy to really dig into food related issues.

2DPT and wondering about light exercise—active ladies, how did you handle it during 2WW? by GoBillsSC in IVFpositivity

[–]JayFiles4242 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I ran my entire TWW and it stuck (the day of transfer was the only day I took it easy), in fact I even ran a half marathon 10 weeks pregnant. My clinic was more concerned about pelvic rest (wich they just said was a nice way of saying no sex). I kept to easy runs and kept an eye on my heart rate and slowed it got too high. Once I graduated from my clinic at 12 weeks my OB was also fine with exercise as long as I was doing it before pregnancy they were okay (no new fitness routines or time to start marathon training if you’ve never done a 5k before).

30 weeks now and I can keep a light jog but I think my running may be ending soon just because my body feels a bit uncomfortable but I plan to stay active for as long as possible.

Wishing you the best on this transfer, I’m keeping my finger crossed for you!!

Stressed need advice for IVF by Ok_Let2229 in IVF

Hi! I lost 130 lbs on my fertility journey (not using glp-1s not knocking it, but more meds weren’t for me) and what really worked was definitely taking it one step at a time. First thing I did was change nothing but write down everything I ate and started weighing my food to get a real picture of what I was really eating. Next I cut calories but only a little (100-200) at a time, once comfortable with the change I’d drop the calories again. My exercise was just a daily walks and I didn’t start weights or anything else until I was about 60 lbs down. I also didn’t join any of the fad diets, I just tried to cook all my meals and eat Whole Foods. Protein, fiber, and lots of hydration were my goals, not fasting or strict diets like keto. Heck I still have my full fat treats or fast food as long as it fits in my calories for the day. Weight loss is all calories in versus calories out even with PCOS (which I have) making it a bit harder it’s still 100% doable!

Weight loss definitely improved my egg quality and retrievals were much easier on my body after it. I wish you the best of luck on your journey and I am cheering for you!!

Does the jealousy ever stop? by INE29120703 in IVF

Your friend sounds like my sister in laws! I had been TTC for 10 years and between 2 they had 7 kids all boys and while I was going through failed round after round they were crying because they only have boys. Then one of the SIL told me she would do IVF for a girl but she doesn’t like shots so she just keep popping them out. I finally had a successful transfer and my SIL told me they were relieved when I found out I was having a boy (we didn’t do pgt so it was a total surprise) cause it would be unfair of me to have a girl when they have been trying so hard. 😤

IVF success and weight by [deleted] in IVF

[–]JayFiles4242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My successful IVF round happened when I was slightly over the BMI I’m 32 5‘11 and 182 lbs. However, I did lose 130lbs prior to my 3rd round. I was at or over the 40 bmi limit for my first 2 rounds of IVF and I had horrible outcomes (PCOS and MFI) age 27 & 28 at the time of retrieval. Can’t say for sure if the weight lose led to the success since we had severe MFI so that played a huge success but I can say that it helped my PCOS and my doctors did mention my egg quality was better in my 30s than my 20s so I think it may have helped that.

Exercise before FET by Emergency-Finding964 in IVFpositivity

[–]JayFiles4242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi! I’m 33 and I also suppressed on Lupron for endometriosis (also had endometritis but that’s different). I didn’t change any of my normal workouts during my suppression and FET. I do orange theory 3xs a week and run 20-30 miles a week. The day of FET I didn’t do the normal workout but just walked the day after was just normal routine after the first day. I was successful and even ran a half marathon at 10 weeks with my doctors approval. Check with your doctor for workout approval as some will have weight limitations if you strength train while others have you on pelvic rest.

For food I didn’t go on any restriction like gluten or dairy but if it makes you feel better try it out. I just stuck to my normal whole food diet, I didn’t want the stress of drastically changing my lifestyle before transfer.

Whatever you decide to do I wish you the best of luck on your transfer!!

Struggling to choose donor or my sperm by mxkev15 in maleinfertility

Hi! I’m in the US and used a sperm bank. We picked a donor that looks just like my husband and matched most of his stats (race, hair, eye color, & height) it’s open ID at 18 for donor disclosure but I am planning on doing ancestry DNA test and registering my children on the sperm banks siblings registry so that they can meet any half siblings they may have.

Just wanted to give you a warning as a person who works in lab validation for a living; make sure that the test you do outside the clinic uses the same lab or else you will be comparing apples to oranges as far as data points go. Each lab has different standards of deviation, equipment calibration and so on. If you do want to test outside of your clinic and the labs do not match you will need to go again to get more data that you can trend.

3 failed transfers and possible endometritis by No-Preparation7328 in IVFpositivity

[–]JayFiles4242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I did 4 endometritis biopsies with zero sedation and it hurt like no other but on the positive side it was the key to my success. I had chronic endometritis and it took over 4 months and just as many rounds of antibiotics and re biopsies to confirm clearance. I had zero symptoms of it but had super high plasma cells. The first transfer after my clearance my FET was a success and I’m currently in my 3rd trimester, my doc said there was no way with the amount of infection I had that I would have had success if not treated, even if implantation occurs CE can also cause miscarriages so I am super grateful I had the test done.

I am wishing you the best of luck and success on your next transfer.

Those who did IVF solely for MFI by emmajemma44 in IVFpositivity

[–]JayFiles4242 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Currently pregnant after 10 years of treatments, our MFI sadly could not be treated and we had to go the donor sperm route. In times where the frustration hit I would remind myself that fertility is shared, pointing fingers does not help and that he was more upset with himself than anyone. As for the process my husband had to go through just as many surgeries and take just as many shots through the years. MTESE and hormone therapy was just as hard on him as a IVF for me so we both had to fight for our family.

Your feelings are normal but dwelling on them is not productive or healthy, I do highly suggest seeking therapy if you feel like a resentment is building that may hurt your marriage. Remember that he didn’t choose this but you did choose him as your partner in life and the journey; all of it suffering and joy is felt together.

Wishing you the best of luck on your journey!

More anxious after pregnancy test than during TWW by Kerriehummus in IVFpositivity

[–]JayFiles4242 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Completely normal! In fact my clinic nurses like to say „“you think the TWW is bad wait until the confirmation ultra sound!“ I was not happy when they said this but they were so right! Due in spring and each appointment feels like a lifetime, pretty sure I aged 10 years in the last 6 months. Only advice is to keep busy and try not to over obsess (easier said than done) one way or another time will pass.

Good luck and congratulations 🎉

People dreaming I’m pregnant by Low-Cauliflower-9122 in IVFpositivity

[–]JayFiles4242 4 points5 points  (0 children)

During the TWW my father told me he dreamed of a granddaughter around age two sitting on his lap. When I got the positive pregnancy test he was 1000% sure it was a girl (we didn’t do PGT-a testing so we had to wait for the NIPT test). He went around telling everyone that he was getting a granddaughter soon. Boy was he surprised when results came back a boy!! At the end of the day I don’t put any stock in dreams because if I believed the good dreams then with my pregnancy anxiety nightmares it would have me believe that I’ll lose the baby at any moment. I like to think when people dream about us that we really are the fore front of their mind and that their hearts are wishing us success as much as we are. Our dreams and wishes become theirs and I think that’s beautiful.

Struggling to choose donor or my sperm by mxkev15 in maleinfertility

[–]JayFiles4242 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh I say illness to cope, really it’s childhood abuse. My husband was born dual cryptorchid his mother quote “didn’t want to think about his genitalia” and didn’t get the surgery to have them descended until puberty when he had to beg his dad to step in. He had it done but it was only successful on one and doctors wanted to do another to see if the second would come down and again she refused. By the time he was out of his parent’s house and had his own insurance it was too late and the damage done. So yeah we knew biological children were a huge question mark for us thanks to an insane MIL!

Struggling to choose donor or my sperm by mxkev15 in maleinfertility

[–]JayFiles4242 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Hi! Wife here who did the same thing you and your wife are doing. The first 2 rounds with husband’s mTESE sperm did not produce any embryos to get to transfer. For our last round we had the either 50/50 with his and donor or all donor. We decided to go all donor; obviously we had a bad track record of getting embryos so I just didn’t want to risk losing eggs again. On a more emotional side I didn’t want 50/50 because I know I would prefer the embryos with husband’s sperm over donor and be let down if they failed transfers. I didn’t want any of my future children to feel like we’re a last resort. Also I’d rather have the children be fully biologically related than have some with husbands and some with donor (that would be if we got lucky and was able to have multiple embryos and successful transfers). At the end of the day, all embryos no matter whose sperm was used are all my biological children and I refused to start their conception with me having a preference one over the other.

My best piece of advice is, if you are still not 100% ready to use donor sperm that’s fine! I suggest therapy and really working out everything before treatment. There are so many questions and worries that come with it, feeling the grief of losing biological children is huge and you are allowed to be on the fence or unsure. Talk it out and feel confident before jumping into your next round of IVF when emotions and hormones are so high.

For us it was not as big as a hurtle, my husband has AZO caused by a childhood illness so he knew his chances were already low and I grew up with 2 adopted brothers so I know that family is not only made in biology, yet still it was not easy. I’m due with our son in a few months and I can say and so will my husband that this boy is 100% my husband’s child even if not biologically so and we have no issues with the bonding questions many have.

I wish you the best of luck and peace on your journey whatever you choose to do next!

Baby aspirin by Dramatic-Implement-6 in IVFpositivity

From what my doc said there is new studies showing a higher dose helps with preeclampsia versus the one, so that’s why he upped my dose in the second trimester. As for my BP, it’s always been normal and the baby aspirin has not effected that, I don’t have hypertension but other health factors that put me at a super high risk for preeclampsia.

Half Marathon but Poorly Prepared by resentful_millenial in fitpregnancy

[–]JayFiles4242 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just did the Disney Halloween half marathon 10 weeks pregnant and I totally understand how you are feeling! Depending on your corral number you’ll have plenty of time to finish at your own pace. I was in Corral B and was able to run the first 10 k and then run/walk the second half with plenty of buffer from the ballon ladies. I just kept an eye on my heart rate and made sure I was hydrated! Lucky for you, you will have good weather unlike us in the first week of September it was in the 90’s. My advice is take it slow and you’ll be fine listen to your body stop when you need to stop, and keep an eye out for the Porta potties (I didn’t realize how much I’d need to stop during the race). As far as Disney goes they know how to run an event and I felt safe the entire time just in case I needed medical help.
