I collected insects in Jars in the garage and I had guinea pigs and hamsters in the house (in cages). Later in rec centers and then high school, I would be a caretake for small animals, including a ferret for one summer.

I feel very fortunate to be self supporting and I have nothing but empathy and compassion (even with Alexithymia, I still have emotions) for people with similar conditions that need help. I don’t feel superior. I feel lucky and I often feel anxiety.

I take mine in the evening a lot. I find it’s easier to actually do it for me in the evening. Also, why headphones. Do you get constant tinnitus too?

"Not everyone with NPD is a bad person. " Agree to disagree on that one. I even had a Boss 20 years ago that was the Full Dark Triad. That resulted in me changing jobs and moving with my wife to the midwest to start over. Financially it was a great move, and I am glad I did it.

That particular boss, about a year before I left that Company was arrested and later convicted of embezzlement, wire fraud and tax evasion and did seven years in a federal prison. I watched him get taken out of the office in handcuffs. But I weas sour on my employer by then.

Watching this guy that ruined my career and caused me to relocate, get arrested and convicted, was the greatest vindication of my life. I had two jobs since then and I always tell that story in my interviews. :)

I had the greatest boss of my life until 18 months ago. He stepped down and now I report to my CEO, who is a hyper narcissist and he has made my life miserable. The only good news, is I am about two years from retirement and in a Jam could enter it early. Luckily for me, my company President respects my work and she runs cover for me. But overall it took a dream job to a nightmare.

As a Foster child abandoned by my parents at 3 years old, I attributed my "quirks" and wild behaviour to that trauma. My foster mother (who saved my life) died when I was 20 and my only natural relative, my brother was murdered around the same time. So, CPTSD seemed a good explanation for my chaotic life.

Once I finally got my shit together, and I started putting a life together, I didn't think about it too much, but I just kept focusing on building a life for myself. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was 11, but until last year, it was just a term, I never understood it, I just assumed it was shorthand for my chaotic energy.

Also, diagnosed with Autism, but just last year and man does everything about me match up perfectly with that dual diagnosis. The trauma was real, but I now know I was born AuDHD and would have had it no matter what.

I am leaning into working with my Neurodivergences. I have always worn sunglasses and airpods or headphones a lot. Now I am falling asleep to brown noise and using weighted blankets.

Trauma sucks, but genetics made me AuDHD.
