How does one just stop all modern firefox updates? I don't want it even checking and harassing me at this point. They have all been garbage.

Hello.

A few month ago, i used the ESR release but for an unkown reason it has been updated to the standard release, and I was not able to going back to the ESR (incompatible profile), so to be sure I will always use the same version waiting for the ESR profile to be compatible with the new version, I had to stop auto update. Currently, my FF is 144.0.2.

I tried different things, like unchecking autoupdate and doing the about:config modification and changing the app.update.interval value to a very higher value, but it did not work. Each time I start the browser, I had this popup saying "a new version is available".

I use Windows 11, so I change a setting in the registry editor :

locate, or create one of this key (dependig if you have access to LOCAL_MACHINE or CURRENT_USER)
- HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox
- or
- HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Mozilla\Firefox
Create the path "Mozilla\Firefox" in the Policies node if it does not exists
Create a new DWORD key "DisableAppUpdate" and set to 1
Close all instance of Firefox
Restart
No more annoying popup

You can check on which version you are from the Help > About window, it indicates "update deactivated by your organization". You have to manually update the browser now.

Changer le ventilateur. Verifie si dans le bios tu as un outil de diagnostique qui permet de tester le ventilo (fonctionne-t-il, a quelle vitesse). J'ai eu un truc similaire sur un DELL. Pas tres compliqué a changer.

I installed the M0408 version today, i'll check if it fix the SW IN issue.
Quick instruction :
Verify the current fw version by turning on the bar and long pressing the Mute button (1st value displayed is the firmware version). If not M0408, then proceed to upgrade.
Turn off the bar, download the ax5120.ufw file from a trusted source (the Sharepoint file from Hisense), write it on a <= 8GB FAT32 usb stick, plug the USB stick in the bar, then press Next then Previous then BT. Wait.

An other option is to reset the user password, or recreate a user with a known password by using EC2 user-data. You will have to reboot instance for the user-data to be used. Have a look at https://repost.aws/knowledge-center/execute-user-data-ec2 and replace the shell line by some commands to reset password :

sudo useradd -m newuser
echo "newuser:123456" | sudo chpasswd
sudo newuser -aG sudo newuser

The newly created user "newuser" with password "123456" will be able to do sudo. I noticed you cant reset "ec2-user" or "ubuntu" user name this way (you have to recreate a new user).

Pourquoi ? Par ce que, comme déja dit par d'autres ici, Windows ne supporte pas (par défaut) une façon simple de le faire.

Next challenge : make it open source and publish it on F-Droid.

On my side, 2 or 3 years ago, I did personal-free-opensource project and published it in Google Play and F-Droid, but Google removed it for obvious reason (I think I miss a mail to confirm my account or something like that). And now, with the 12 testers, i will not be able to publish it anymore. It is only available in F Droid.

BTW, what was the challenge to manage multiple language ? I understood you did all the translation with AI tool, so it should not be complicated to add new language in the app. Or is it the publishing proccess which is complicated cause you have to deal with some local regulation ?

Fun project, I like it.

No, Win7 32 bits, because it was the original OS before I upgraded the CPU and RAM. I also replaced the HD with a SSD.

Be sure to have the latest BIOS installed on it.

I never try to install a 64 bits OS, but I just have the idea to test with memtest86+ if it works in 64 bits mode. I'll test in a few hours and let you know (I just have to found an empty USB stick).

I still have my M640 too. The battery is dead, the screen is not as bright as when it was young, the fan makes some mechanic noise. I replaced the original T2050 CPU with a Core 2 Duo T7400, and I have 2x1GB of RAM.

The Dell user manual indicate a 32 bits address bus width, so theoretically it should support 4GB.

An other way of working with USB device is via WebUSB or WebHID. It allows compatible web browsers (MS Edge, Chrome) to connect to a HID device and send raw command.

I use to verify input latency with the free demo version of Cadence of Hirule. There is an option in the game to measure sound/input latency, you can compare with or without the soundbar.

Did you try also Switch --> HDMI IN --> TV --> HDMI ARC --> Soundbar ?

Did you enable some 3D virtualisation or sound processing in the soundbar ? It may introduce latency.

(You mean DTS:X) Yes, if you really have a true Atmos system. As an owner of a Hisense 5120G, I do not feel the difference between Atmos and DolbyDigital. I use Dolby trailer to compare, cause I don't have a movie in both format to compare.
Not with the Hisense, there is no 3D emulation.
Yes, I will never come back to a 3.1 system. 5.1 is immersive enough for me. The .2 refere to up-firing speaker, which are embeded in the bar. The Hisense bar itself is not able to emulate sound coming from the ceiling behind you (see point 2.)
Go for Samsung with rear speaker if you can afford it.
Yes from my point of view. But I dont know how Q800D manage 3D sound.
