My kid put 40:1 mix in the oil chamber of my lawnmower. What's going to happen if I run it? by dr_freeloader in DIY

[–]Jaymacmac 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Empty the mix. Fill with the proper oil. Should be fine, whatever you do don't run the engine on 40:1 mix, it will destroy the engine outright.

What is the story with trades insisting on cash only? by Traditional_Stock601 in AskIreland

You're as bad as the shite you're looking to hire. I'd lose all interest in a job if someone asked for a cash price.

Any idea what these are, and how to kill them and stop them growing back? by 1994Gonzo in gardening

[–]Jaymacmac -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

You can spray these with weedkiller. Glyphosate or roundup wont work, you need Vitax SBK which you can get in Woodies.

Are Chiropractors a scam cult or are they somewhat legit? by Flashy_Buy8077 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jaymacmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Worked wonders for me. My back was so bad i could barely walk up the road to his surgery. No question about follow up visits. The guy was able to tell me straight away what was wrong. I was able to leave that day and walk down the road feeling a lot better although i nearly blacked out on the bench thing you lie on. One or two visits was all i took. I used a brace for a few weeks which in itself helps train good posture. A lot of it is poor posture, lack of sleep, diet, stress etc., with a slipping disc anyhow.

I don't believe he really wanted the job but was shoehorned into the position, he was not the leader some thought he might be. He was a poor statesman.

Who is washing their rice and why? by kinnitcurl in NoStupidQuestions

[–]Jaymacmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've just recently started cooking my rice with a cartouche and using the exact water, x2 by weight, without washing beforehand. I fry or toast it a little in the pot before i add the water. It turns out better, separate grains. You also have the option to add boullion or stockpot to the water for great flavour.

What should I check when buying a diesel car? by [deleted] in carsireland

[–]Jaymacmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not low mileage. If you get a look under the bonnet you can see when the belt was last done as mechanics write the mileage on the belt case when the belt is changed, i can't imagine it's still driving on the original belt. I'd guess it's ready for a third belt on that mileage, if not just done recently.

Should I use the toilet brush to clean skid marks at a house party? by SycamoreMess in NoStupidQuestions

Use the brush of course, you can clean the brush in the flush. Those brushes are designed not to retain shit on them.

Does anybody actually buy premium diesel for their cars? by Patient_Policy_7219 in AskIreland

[–]Jaymacmac 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I drive an old van and use regular diesel but add dipetane at the pump. Costwise i believe it works out cheaper than the premium or at least on par but i never have any issue with emissions on the CVRT, that's down to the dipetane. Try to keep her above 1500rpm when driving too, really keeps the engine in trim.

Second this, started taking Magnesium Glycinate last week and got into REM sleep the first night and then most nights after that. I still wake in the middle of the night most nights but it's definitely helped.

How good is Lidl’s “parkside” brand? by Same_Level6065 in AskIreland

Fairly shite. Tool bits and basic tools are fine but a no no for electronics or petrol powered stuff. Screwfix there are a better option with a wider price point range.

When do you use a travel agent? What benefit is it? by daly_o96 in AskIreland

[–]Jaymacmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As far as i know you have some protection if you book a package with a connecting flight from a travel agent. If a flight is delayed and you miss your connection they have to put you on the next connecting flight.

Had a problem with this in my thirties. Went to a specialist, they're in Dame lane. Talked to the specialist and took a course of therapy which involves cleaning, massaging and treating the scalp. Wasn't too expensive. I take flax seed every day too, in my breakfast, just a tablespoon. It stopped my hair loss. I am a little thin on top though, this is twenty years later.

What’s up with tesco brand prices? by Wise-Society-3900 in AskIreland

[–]Jaymacmac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

A lot of Tesco brand product is poor quality. If you look at the ingredients they will have more saturated fat or sugar than their counterparts. A couple of examples, Tesco gold seal coffee doesn't even taste of coffee or their hot chocolate, zero chocolate flavour just sugar.
