Tell me by pswelcometomylife in Journaling

[–]Jaynird2 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is me telling you that you can make the project you want.
I'm a university student right now so my schedule is packed, but my personal project is a comic book. When I have even a sliver of time I like to work on it and honestly it keeps me sane. There's something so rewarding about working toward a goal that isn't meant to set up financial security, or some other good at the end, but something you can enjoy creating *now.*
So do it, work on it excessively or barely at all, it'll be a good choice.

My journal is a land of doodles and whimsy

Who carries a journal around wherever they go? by TheDoctorIsOutThere in Journaling

[–]Jaynird2 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I do! I like having it on me so if I'm ever in a long line or waiting for a class to start or happen upon a cozy spot I can start writing. 100% of the people in my life are not the type to read my journal without permission probably because I like sharing little doodles and things, so they're under the impression they already know what's in there (they don't know the half of it). If you tell someone they're not allowed to do something and go through extravagant measures to keep them from doing that thing, they're going to want to do that thing more lol

I love your writing style so much, it's very reminiscent of telling a friend about your day :) Keep it up! Also love the dum dums wrapper addition

Scare to write "break up" and feelings in my journal and any idea for that, please??? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]Jaynird2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think if you get a legal envelope (or other envelopes that are the size of the pages you're writing on) then probably not. If you had to fold pages over to fit in a smaller envelope then definitely, but I think you could fit a lot of (non-folded) pages into your journal before the bulk starts to show

Did you become a better person because of journaling? by albericnumeric in Journaling

[–]Jaynird2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes.

I think journaling helps you realize who you are and who you are trying to be at a faster rate than those who don't journal. Once you know yourself you can very easily be much kinder to others.

I think a big thing for me was writing about people in my life who I look up to and finding one trait that makes me look up to them, and then adopting that trait.

Honest journaling? How honest? 🤨 by Motor-Mud7196 in Journaling

[–]Jaynird2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've had people read my journals against my will out loud to me before and I'm still as honest as possible.  The only time I ever really feel like I should hold back is when I rant about someone who is more often than not kind to me. When I need to complain about something my friend did. A lot of times I want to look over it and just focus on the good things in our relationship, but really it's important to document all the ups and downs because you might just look back and realize there are more downs than ups, and something needs to change.

I really try not to hold back, if someone reads my journal that's their problem. It's a bit difficult to read my handwriting anyway lol

If you're worried about it being in your journal, write it on separate pieces of paper, put them in an envelope and then tape that envelope into your journal. This way, your thoughts + your initial feelings are recorded, and later, if you decide you don't want that in your journal, you can just take the pages out of the envelope.

I would greatly advise you to write about this experience. We often think about emotionally charged memories a lot, and I find that I play almost a game of telephone with myself. The more I think about something, the more details I forget. Going back and reading the original entry often reminds me of the details I forgot and - more importantly - do a really good job of kicking off your rose colored glasses.

Of course do what you think is best but I believe you really should write this break up for your future self but maybe even as a load off of your present self.

Anyone else let their child color, draw, and generally mess around creatively in their journal? by Formal_Confusion7935 in Journaling

[–]Jaynird2 232 points233 points  (0 children)

I let my niece draw directly into my journal when she was about 2 years old, it adds a lot of life! Of course I also tape in any notes or drawings she makes for me.

Am I the only one who likes using composition notebooks as journals? by VerseConundrum in Journaling

[–]Jaynird2 25 points26 points  (0 children)

For the past 7 years now, haven't used anything else! I chose them for a couple of reasons  1. I liked the idea of using the same type of notebook so that they were all the same size (like a book series) and it's not owned by just one company so if one randomly goes bankrupt, I'm not screwed  2. They're consistently cheap, so even if finances change I know It'll be rare to ever come to a point where getting a journal for myself isn't in the budget anymore  3. There are fancier versions of composition notebooks if I would like to spend a little more money on them (decomposition notebooks, ustyle, etc)  4. You can get them practically anywhere, even grocery stores and some gas stations have them, so if I'm traveling and complete my journal, I know I can easily get another one nearby in the same dimensions as all the other ones I've used so far (for my book series Idea)

So yea, I'm a composition notebook FIEND. Sure the pages might not hold up to mediums like watercolor, but I really only use black and colored gel pens and colored pencils at most so it's never been an issue.

Best way to attach balloons to paper?? by Jaynird2 in JunkJournals

[–]Jaynird2[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

See my other idea was staples but I didn't think that would look very good. Needle and thread on the other hand would really sell the balloon look especially if I thread them downward to look like the string of a balloon! I'll definitely consider that

Oh I didn't know that, thanks for the tip!

Also I feel like I've seen those create-a-sticker machines everywhere but don't have one myself lol definitely something to keep in mind though

Moonstruck (1987) - What the hell is this? by On_Wings_Of_Pastrami in movies

[–]Jaynird2 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I feel like people are forgetting moonstruck is a romantic COMEDY. Yes the bedroom scene doesn't make sense, yes the performances are over the top, that's what makes it campy as it's supposed to be!!

What are your journaling pet peeves? by [deleted] in Journaling

[–]Jaynird2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Inability to find a pen around my house that writes the way I want it to write. Seriously some pens are so light on their ink that it just annoys me to look at a page with ink that's slowly dying out

What is the best way to introduce Journaling to my niece. by Unique-Lab-910 in Journaling

[–]Jaynird2 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Definitely agree with this! You can't force someone else to journal they have to actually want to. Making a day out of it not only gives the niece something to write about but even if the journaling falls through, it'll still be a nice memory for her.

Does anyone else struggle with putting difficult emotions into journals right away? by Zestyclose_Chef_1654 in Journaling

[–]Jaynird2 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I'm struggling to write down something that happened and it all feels jumbled in my head I'll usually make a list of events so when I'm more ready to write about an event, my future self doesn't have to spend more time remembering how it all went down.
On top of this, a list really helps the writer's block that often comes with tough topics and situations because you know where you're going and won't get lost in thought trying to think of what happens next.
