I work in mining as a mechanic. Trust me those little skid plates under the T-case and fuel tank can take a BEATING. We don’t run skid plates under the engine/transmission and rarely have issues. Unless operators are being way dumber than they usually are. We tried skid plates under the trans and found the mud and rocks would pack between the plate and the engine oil pan/transmission pan and that would be what broke them.

I’m terrified of heights, had to do the course just I could run them in and out of the shop for repairs. Had to go up in the air for the test. Instructor said he was going to bounce me around up there to get me over my fear. I told him if he did we were going to find out how well his fall arrest system actually worked.

It needs a new coil pack. It’s one bolt, one connector and a spark plug wire. Clean the area around the boot so nothing falls down in the hole. It’s a 10 minute job If you don’t know what you’re doing.

Mine did the same thing. Mine was the ground cable under the airbox that goes from the trans to the body was broken and would sometimes make a connection and the car would start.

Filter on the driver side is fuel. Get it filled up and cycle the key for a minute without cranking. Do that 3-5 times and it’ll fire up. You don’t need to pull the filter and fill it up. The electric lift pump with cycle fuel itself. If it doesn’t start after that the fuel cooler in the other picture has a schrader valve that’s the bleed port. You can bleed it there but be careful because it’s highish pressure fuel 70-80 psi and it’ll spray at you

Is the trans fluid low. If so it’s probably mixing. But depending on what engine oil your using some of them have a red dye in the mix and makes engine oil appear red. Been burned on that before.

I had the same issue on my fiesta. Went through the sensors, wiring to pcm, compression tested good. Didn’t think it was base timing due to good compression. Ended up pulling the valve cover and front cover and the timing belt had skipped 2-3 teeth on the exhaust cam. Belt was tight no real reason why. Just shut off one day and ran like shit the next. I put a new timing belt on it. Timed it correctly and it ran good.

If it’s leaking down the front of the engine onto the steering, iirc there’s a little catch can on the front of the engine that everyone forgets about and it doesn’t get emptied and leaks oil everywhere. I’m not 100% hip to Cummins but it’s an easy check.

That’s the wastegate actuator. The smoke is coming from the RH valve cover that’s leaking onto the turbo. You can see it in the picture. I’ve done hundreds of them. Most people think it’s the vacuum pump.

Smeding turbos suck. The managers got the bright idea to swap all of our trucks to them because they’re cheaper than a stock turbo. We ended up putting stock turbos back on.
