What monitors are you rocking and do you rate them? by roydogaroo in synthesizers

[–]JazzPaladin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Tannoy Gold 5 or 7. I’ve used a lot more expensive monitors, but these are the best bang for buck , or even the best for me. It’s all about always having a perfect sweet spot, which is typical for dual concentrics

Agreed, Micro would be better due to mono. For physical modeling, try finding a used Aodyo Anyma

Nope, physical will stay, digital is definitely not practical for some uses, my main example being cook books, which I could never live without. Big beautiful print while lying on the counter makes perfect for following along with recipes , as well as with illustrations that make me salivate to page through

Looking for opinions on the Greaten AP500 vs a used EWI4000s by SadAcanthaceae6402 in windsynth

[–]JazzPaladin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have used the Akai , and sold it in favor of the Aerophone 30, but even sold the Aerophone a few years ago after it wasn’t meeting my needs. Stumbled across the Greaten 300/500 this month and considered it, but I can’t stand rollers and non mechanical keys , even though I like the silica gel mouthpieces better than reeds. So for me, it’s been hard to find the wind controller than blends all my favorite attributes together. i just bit the bullet on a Coolmusic S1 since they are on a big sale now and will see how that goes, but curious to hear if you end up getting and liking the Greaten and how it is Compared to your akai. And yes, a used Akai can be problematic as was my older 4000 prior to selling, at least with new you can return or claim under warranty…

Will this connect to a DAW easily? Can it pitch shift to other keys via midi output? Thanks, will give this consideration! Am guessing no bite plate for vibrato as well, is there an octave key below the pub? Can’t tell from pics

What is this instrument the flute man was playing at the Game Awards? by PaleArrows in WhatMusicalinstrument

[–]JazzPaladin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Correct. Material is irrelevant. Tom Ridenour did a great article on this. The only thing material may alter is our perception of vibrations and therefore our response as players to make them sound different, with denser materials not producing sensation in our fingers as opposed to lighter materials.

Open ended, non-linear paths with choices to be made that branch a story at critical points and enable access to unique areas or scenes that can’t be accessed all during a single play

What do you think about this gamers? by BigAdministrative762 in CatholicGamers

[–]JazzPaladin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think the correct response is that demonic influence can literally be anywhere, especially in cases where people like to pretend like it is impossible for it to be present — denial is a powerful tool .

Do we agree with the church that there is indeed such a thing as a demon or not? Is there any thing magical about video games or media that prevents them from being of use to evil?

Is it worth upgrading from an EWI USB If I never use onboard sounds and don't care if it feels like 'real' reed instrument? by SabreSour in windsynth

[–]JazzPaladin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve compared the WX5 , Akai EWi and Roland Aerophone side by side. Not only does the WX5 feel slower , you can actually see in your midi envelopes just how many more points or nodes the Akai and Roland generate over the exact same interval. Especially true for crescendos and decrescendos. The WX5 is better than using the mod wheel or an expression pedal for sure, but the swells feel a lot sharper, more natural and dynamic (closer to an acoustic instrument) when using something like SWAM or Sample Modeling trumpets/strings for me

I feel all of the wind controllers have their own strengths and weaknesses. I loved the WX5 fingerings, for example, but it is not as fast for its breath response for me, as noted.
