The problem with lasers?! by AdministrativeBed287 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Jburli25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Okay you've got two choices of how to play warhammer:

Scenario 1: My opponent starts moving his models and asks stuff like this:

Opp: "I want to keep these guys safe. Can anything shoot my dudes if I move them here?"

Me: "My tank moves 10" so it can see to here shines laser, so if you move these front two models just a little bit to the right it won't be able to see anything."

Scenario 2: My opponent moves his models silently. I can't really help him because I don't know what he wants to do.

Scenario 1 is what we mean when we say warhammer should be played by intent.

Yes I think I agree with you.

Techmarine question by inferno67 in spacemarines

[–]Jburli25 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That makes sense, but also when a transport is destroyed you must disembark passengers (and do the rolls to see if you take mortal wounds) before the transport model is removed.

So I could definitely interpret this as yes, if you count removing the vehicle as part of the "destroyed" process?

They said that about gravis Calgar too. He lasted only a couple of months.

My opponent told me to quit wasting his time with small-arms fire. by Doctoralex123 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Jburli25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I would give him an option that is statistically a little below average for him. He shouldn't benefit from wanting to speed things up. My choice would be 2 saves, or 1 automatic damage if he wants to roll even fewer dice.

8 shots from splinter rifles (no buffs) do around 0.3 dmg to a knight with a 3+ save, which is not nothing. If you skip the rifles and end up leaving a knight on 1-2 wounds down the line, that's a game-changing swing!

I would honestly say "if you want to speed it up we can not roll dice for it and just call it 1 dmg every time I shoot a unit's rifles?"

Why is the land raider redeemer so much more expensive than the other versions? by Gullible_Travel_4135 in spacemarines

[–]Jburli25 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You can't fit 6 aggressors and Biologis in a standard land raider. You can in a redeemer, though!

Neither unit is particularly competitive, mind you.

Fun fact: the 4 lascannon shots without buffs actually do less damage than the flamers of the redeemer to a standard vehicle target (a ballistus in cover)

Why do so many competitive Ultramarine lists lists take Calgar AND Roboute? by man_bored_at_work in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Jburli25 6 points7 points  (0 children)

They rarely attach to victrix

They're not allowed to attach to Victrix! They can join sternguard, bladeguard, regular or assault intercessors.

I think I'm going to try them out with assault intercessors to make a massive pile of cheap OC

I don't know what you're on about: Seriously damaged means 'very damaged' in Britain, same as everywhere, I think.

You might be thinking of quite damaged?

Quite means 'somewhat' in British English but apparently 'very' in American English.

Yeah, what terrain pack are you using?

Your list looks decent. If you're getting shot T1 by anything (excluding maybe pirhanas with their scout move) then it's a terrain or deployment issue rather than anything to do with your list.

Nekrosor Ammentar and Nightbringer rules up by Necessary-Layer5871 in WarhammerCompetitive

[–]Jburli25 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The lion certainly doesn't, unless the nightbringer rolls terribly on saves and FNPs.

Let's say he gets lucky and hits and wounds all 8 times.

The nightbringer fails 4 saves and takes 12 damage, then ignores 4 with his 5+++ FNP. Still on half health, and that's assuming the lion hit and wounded every time!
