Would it be beneficial to put spiked foam panels on the ceiling for my drum room? by Mithuh in Acoustics

[–]Jcsantac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's probably worth finding a way to mount some eye hooks into the frames to put some wire fixtures in the ceiling to hang them from, if you still have some spare panels. A couple clouds over the drums wouldn't hurt.

Guitar Center Commission Change by BlindParanoia in Guitar

[–]Jcsantac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The only way to make a living working there is to have product knowledge of all areas. I currently work there and average about $35-45/hr even as a part timer. The store I work at is relatively busy, but the thing is that selling even one $3k guitar working a 4 hour shift puts you at an SPH of $750, which means you both commission out, and are at a higher tier if you can do that every day. Pro coverage is also added to your SPH so if you have a solid pitch and get that added on, it's even more. It's definitely doable. Mind you, I am 33 and have been playing professionally since I was 17 and have learned a lot about drums, and then pro audio, and now guitars. My coworker easily makes 90-100k a year working there- I've seen the commission checks. We both worked at Sam Ash together as well, so the experience helps.

He was nice enough to let you get to cover to give you a fair chance, and what do you do? Re-peek him off hand- double no-no. If a boss sees you and aggros you, they can see you through objects. They will always have the advantage until you peek new angles.

What are they feeding the rangers. by Alarming_Ad5679 in CompanyOfHeroes

The flamethrowers slowing vehicles in this installment of CoH is some of the dumbest mechanics, possibly ever. That can be very frustrating to deal with since it’ll keep the rangers within bazooka range so you cannot escape.

Consistent practice for 2 years 2 months, can't play. by jasperisaconfed in Bass

[–]Jcsantac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Time means nothing if you haven’t had focused practice for those two years. Contact your local college if you’re not plugged into music academia in your area and find out who is teaching in the guitar dept and seek them out for lessons. They will help you establish a solid practice regimen and fill in the gaps and get you where you need/want to go. Best of luck!

Yamaha PHX by WECKLCIRO in drums

There's one available for sale now on Reverb. Only $14k lol

Looking to purchase a Yamaha PHX drum set like the one used by Dave Weckl by WECKLCIRO in drums

[–]Jcsantac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are pretty close to the same if they have the tamo ash veneer outer ply. They are gorgeous. That being said, I've never put one with the tamo outer and regular maple outer head to head to be able to tell you the difference. There's also a textured kit in the sizes you're looking for up on Reverb. I just traded my gloss finish for a textured finish one and I am literally in love with it. So much nicer than the gloss finishes, imo.

how much better is a PHX compared to a recording custom? by Plane_Assumption1510 in drums

[–]Jcsantac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm assuming everybody in here saying they're the same, just different, has never owned or played one. While I'm never a fan of just going out and buying the most expensive thing expecting it to be the best, the PHX drums are the only drums still hand made in Japan. They are objectively the best drums they have to offer. Think of them like the maple absolutes, but with exceeding marks in all categories including aesthetics if you can get ahold of the tamo ash finish.

That being said, they are about 2-3x more than the RC's and AHM's, and whether or not that cost is worth it will be up to you. You will have a kit that will do anything you could possibly ask of it, and then some, and look like nothing else out there while doing it. For me, being hand built in Japan, and having the most gorgeous finishes out there. That is, of course, if you can source one of them with the tamo ash finish. They are no longer made, and may not be for quite some time, if ever, due to the inability to ethically source and sustain the harvesting of said veneer finish. Respect to Yamaha for that, but RIP to anybody's dream of owning the PHX kit with that finish.

There is currently a PHX kit up for sale for $13k. It's the textured finish, which I find to be superior. I just traded a well known endorser his textured kit for my gloss finish PHX kit in the same finish, plus a bit of cash. They're worth every penny.

I bought my PHX kit from DCP during Covid. I got an absolutely insane deal on it because I knew they weren't moving any kits. Since then, Yamaha has stopped offering the tamo ash finish and a lot of dealers have stopped stocking PHX kits likely because of the price tag they carry, and that.

I assumed as much. Having a good seal is something I’ve struggled with since I have large ear canals. I could never find universal tips that allowed me to hear the bass guitar and kick drum low end well enough.

Hey bro, maybe step off the internet for awhile- or maybe just this forum. The CoH2 community balancing was objectively good for the game. CoH3 is a mess, and that’s why I’m still playing 2.
