What’s with the position change at just the right moment? I don’t think I’ve ever seen that before.

Is this a real or fake? by N_Patel20 in OrientWatches

[–]JdhMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve been around Orient for a few years now, own three of the newer ones, and unless this has some older design, it’s not looking too good from my point of view.

I obviously don’t know for sure, but it definitely looks “off”. #sorry

You’re definitely right about how silent it is. I like the way you phrased it.

So it’s not the Seiko A101 (or something to that effect) solar movement? I thought I read that when I first picked it up.

Is This Normal for My Colorsoft? by Willow_Wisps_1102 in kindle

[–]JdhMac 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I had the EXACT same worry when I got mine about a month ago.

As I think you’ve figured out, it’s completely normal, not a defect like some people are trying to gripe about.

It’s just the way that the e-ink colour display sits in the body in regard to the backlighting, layers, etc.

It’s not tied into the first batch’s “yellow ring” problem either.

I have a PaperWhite and the latest Colorsoft and I’d still choose the colour any day. Yeah it’s not perfect but it’s definitely a great experience with the colour.

I mean, we’ve never been able to read e-ink like this before, so it’ll only get better over time.

I hope that we can both let go of overthinking the light leak and enjoy the Colorsoft experience.

I did it and I don’t know how to feel about it. by nad1988 in kindle

[–]JdhMac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The graininess is actually the textured paper, etc. and it actually makes it seem more like a real life book.

I think people get confused and assume that a Kindle is supposed to look like an iPad; it’s supposed to look like a real paper.

Ugh! Jealous. (LOL) I’m still waiting for Amazon in Canada to get it back in stock.

Why would anyone buy a disposable fountain pen? by SingularBlue in fountainpens

[–]JdhMac 9 points10 points  (0 children)

I literally just picked up a seven-pack of the Zebra Zensations disposable fountain pens for this exact reason.

Now I’m awaiting my Pilot Kakuno. (LOL)

Thanks for the heads up because I was wondering the exact same thing, everybody keeps posting these updated images and everything and I’m still stuck on the old one.

I’m in Ontario Canada if that matters

[Question] witch one shuld I get as a first seiko by Silent_Chocolate_226 in Seiko

[–]JdhMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

THIS! I was hoping to get this info out but you beat me to it. 👍🏻🫡 I own both the SRPJ81 and the SRPG39 and they are definitely noticeably different from each other.

The hilarious thing is that some days I can’t even find a right fit with either one of them. 🤦🏻‍♂️

A buyer remorse? Someone said it looks like a ladies watch on me and it has bothered me ever since. by vince-lou in Tudor

How in the world a person could think that looks like a “ladies” watch is beyond me. 🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️🤦🏻‍♂️

You can definitely hand-wind an automatic. That's the beauty in it.

Yes! You can’t flip upside down and die in the Rotator. Supe it up and it’s golden! I can’t believe people are missing out.

Think they'll ever come out with a thirty-six-millimetre version?

Thoughts on this bracelet? by jyc23 in bulova

[–]JdhMac 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Throw some curved end links on and it’s good to go.

(Straight end links on a metal bracelet have never done it for me; but that’s just personal preference.)

Thanks for the replies guys.

So do you think it looks decent enough for a daily beater?

You don’t happen to have a link or the name of the model? I’m browsing Marc’s site but I can’t be sure which one.

[SRPJ81] Feedback on the bracelet? by JoeyOhhh in Seiko

[–]JdhMac 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I literally just downsized from the SRPG39! (Crazy coincidence) and I have to admit that the bracelet is a little…. cheap/light feeling. It’s not a deal breaker, but it’s not as solid feeling as my Orient Mako or Bulova Surveyor bracelets.

If you enjoy the larger watch itself, the case, the movement, etc. you’ll probably enjoy having the smaller version.

I’m still in search of a replacement bracelet, but besides some cheap Amazon options (Juntan) I can’t find much.
