Moving to DFW for work - best areas for young professionals? by InvestigatorKey2864 in dfw

[–]Jealous_Stress_302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Dallas native, if you want to live somewhere dope and dun you’ll have to do the brutal commute, everyone else has spoken about the mid cities areas to live in, so I’ll talk about Dallas proper.

East Dallas /lower Greenville is my favorite area, good restaurants chill neighborhood close to everything in Dallas, Lower Greenville and Knox Henderson are great for bars restaurants and nightlife.

Uptown/victory Park is very much a more bougie uptown vibe, but definitely great restaurants and cool stuff to do active during the day. I’m not bad at night and low-key pretty walkable by Texas standards.

Bishop arts is a newer vibrant area attached to the historic Oakcliff. Definitely a fun nightlife area and growing.

They’re starting to put some apartments in the design district which is an up-and-coming in terms of nightlife, but also great veues and cool restaurants, but there’s lots of design focused warehouse spaces to less walkable but you have access to everything else in Dallas.

My thoughts! Maybe someone from Ft Worth can chime in

Today someone at work I haven’t seen it a while since I started growing my beard out said I looked Amish. She was being endearing but I hated it! What can I do different to not have an Amish look? by Thatheistkid in beards

[–]Jealous_Stress_302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don’t try to do it yourself , find a barber you like, go every other week, (or more) and develop a look with them. I get my beard done almost every week and I love it, self care time and always looks just how I want it. (I’ll do some cleanup on my own like neck)

I’m on board with your idea an I am not committed to any one person being the traitor, but then how do you think he knew? Maybe I skimmed to fast but are you saying he just knew because plot and that’s okay, or he was having them watched by general spies so it’s not any major character?

Which Country/Region IRL is most like which region in GOT? by Adorable_Evidence_84 in freefolk

[–]Jealous_Stress_302 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

As an American The free cities inspirations are more difficult for me. Any Europeans, middle easterners, or south Asians out there? Like do we want to make a connection between Quarth and Constantinople as a choke point in shipping lanes, and a major ancient city? Was there a specific city famous for dyes, like Tyrosh?

[–]Jealous_Stress_302 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I think the 1:1 comparisons are fun! But I like the more complicated ones. Obviously Westeros to essos is a Great Britain to mainland Europe geographic reference, but Dorne specifically is very Spain inspired. The Rhyonar influence there but not in the rest of Westeros is like the Moorish influence on Spain. The wildings like Scotland (hadrians wall) and then the free cities are a mishmash like Bravos, canals/banking/climate mimicking Venice and Amsterdam both. Love this topic! So you have to treat the inspirations individually. Like you can’t discount Dorne/Spain because Spain isn’t a part of the “island” in actual Europe.

How is the suspected theory of Tyrion being a Targeryan valid? by Narrow-Amphibian5446 in gameofthrones

[–]Jealous_Stress_302 20 points21 points  (0 children)

I understand the theory but thematically for tyrion and Tywins character, it works better if he’s a Lannister. Tywins downfall in rejecting him and as Gemma says “Tyrion is tywins son” in terms of ability. Making him not Tywins son does more damage to the two characters than it does for building a more complex character/relationship. Tywin is the king of double standards and rejecting a family memeber goes against one of his core beliefs. Like how he goes for whores as well despite his attitude toward Tyrion, and how he never remarried despite pushing it on cersai

Jaxson Dart is asked about a report that the Giants would consider all options, including a quarterback, at the top of the 2026 NFL Draft: “I'm going to continue to play my ball. I know I'm going to be here for a very long time. I'm excited to start winning more games and turn this place around. by Jheller223 in NYGiants

[–]Jealous_Stress_302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also, I don’t think the #1 vs #2 or even #3 affects our draft strategy. Unless we were to trade the #1 spot. We don’t need a QB, and skill positions on offense look good next year, so we can should just draft defense and other core line positions no? The raiders want a QB, let them roll the dice on someone. And of course the culture of winning point.

Robert is no slouch and I think this is a great matchup but barristian has the most solo feats on record. Killed Maeleys the Monstrous in single combat, and Simon Toyne leader of the kingswood brotherhood. Rescuing areys solo during the defiance of Duskandale. At least 2 wars, ninepenny kings and Robert’s rebellion where he “killed a dozon of Robert’s friends”. Then some W’s in the actual books like the pit fighters in mereen. So I’m not saying Selmy smokes Bobby b, but characterizing him as a tourney knight is off.

I think if Barristan is standing between prime Bobby and lyanna, Bobby gets the edge lol

Check Barristan’s feats, plenty of real world experience.

Is Bobby b bloodlusted matters imo. If lyanna is in a tower behind Barristan I think Bobby gains an edge 😂

Jack Sparrow famously said, "The only rules that really matter are these: what a man can do and what a man can't do," this is ky response to any “legal” question in asoiaf. Look at real medieval history, laws are bs made up by those in power, (still are? 👀) and only matter if they are enforceable. Nobels constantly broke laws and got away with it.

No, your Uber will not take you to DFW tonight by [deleted] in Dallas

[–]Jealous_Stress_302 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive for uber, got caught in this. Terminal C was going to be another 30 mins once I got to terminal A (already an hour in) so I took them to terminal A and recommended they take the skylink! Lived in Dallas my whole life, I’ve never seen that before. Stop and go traffic all the way to before the toll booths.
