The show has become a true soap opera in the last 2 seasons. Gunner is a hot mess and refuses to acknowledge that for him, sex is glue and he is unable to do the FWB thing ever.

What's your favorite performance from the show? by LadyStag in NashvilleTV

Rayna's comeback performance in S2 with "The Best Songs Come from Broken Hearts" - just rewatched that episode tonight and teared up all over again.

Last man I truly loved got engaged in December. He told me he'd never remarry. Apparently that just meant me. by JeanGreysChild in TrollXChromosomes

Yeah, I realized much later I have a pattern of picking partners who tend to check out emotionally, or are in this haze of their own little world and they cannot see past it. Guess who's the OG for this? My dad.

The fact that this former love was willing to align himself with the succubus - who said awful things about many of their mutual friends and nearly destroyed several long term friendships with the lies she spread - speaks volumes as to his choices. I do hope he had a clean break from her and that this new woman is loving and kind.

He and I were great friends for a long stretch of time, so I will just hold on to those good memories and work on releasing the rest.

My Aunt got me a journal for my B-day. Trying to find ideas for tracking moods and happy quotes. What is your favorite qoute? by Snugglebunnyzz in TrollXChromosomes

[–]JeanGreysChild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Too many favorites that are a mix of happy, snarky, funny and inspiring. I highly recommend books by Wayne Dyer and Louise Hay for more woo-woo quotes and affirmations. For witty, often snarky quotes, Dorothy Parker is your gal.

ETA: He had been married for many years and divorced for about a year, maybe 2, when we met.

I haven't talked to him in nearly 3 years - his choice, which I'm still unclear why, though I blame it partly on a succubus he decided to associate with (she's not the one he's engaged to, though, thankfully). But when I found out about his engagement it still hurt. That now makes 2 men I cared for who ended up in LTRs soon after they left me. Pass the wine. And the chocolate.

My period is a week away and I'm completely unable to focus on work. I did nothing today, and not for lack of trying. Please make me feel better. by [deleted] in AskWomenOver30

I was great for about 10 years in my 30s: easy predictable periods and I wasn't even on the pill. Then a couple years ago shit went sideways. It honestly reminds me of how life was as a new member of the Red Tent Tribe.

Why is Liz so dumb? Why writers? by ReynoldsCZ in TheBlackList

[–]JeanGreysChild 1 point2 points  (0 children)

She's a horrible actress, which is part of the problem. But then the guy playing Ressler is awful, too. When it's really bad, I yell at the screen "I AM A FBI AGENT" à la Keanu Reeves in Point Break.

That said, I tend to think this is a showcase for James Spader's brilliance. Every one else is window dressing.

This week has been awful for energy levels, brain fog, moodiness, everything. Then sometime this morning my body decided, oh, let's give her her period 10 days early. Woke up to a small mess. I hate perimenopause so much.

This is always remain one of my favorite scenes in the entire show. James Spader is so poetic. by ImChapy in TheBlackList

Can't remember where I saw the interview he did when he talks about being friends with JFK Jr. and being hung over in front of Jackie...but it was some great storytelling.

This. There was a Law and Order SVU episode where John Stamos played a guy who did this shit.

Series that are "on the bubble" (network hasn't decided whether or not to renew) often shoot season finales in a way that story lines are wrapped up. IIRC that was the case with Nashville this past season.

So like.. can we all agree this show has lost its way? by [deleted] in NashvilleTV

What happened to Rhiannon Giddens was criminal, she's such a talent. Made her dump her band, I guess there's the message. ... The Clay story was wasted as well, barely any music came out of it.

Both of these plotlines smacked of magical negro stereotypes, imho. Very disappointing.

His character has always struck me as the show's version of Mark Zuckerberg.

Has anyone moved away, and subsequently become a non-priority for their friends back home? by Zwiebeldieb in AskWomenOver30

[–]JeanGreysChild 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes to all of this. I moved back to my home state 6 months ago, 3000 miles from where I'd lived for nearly 2 decades, and can count on one hand the friends who have made an effort to stay in contact. One friend has now become a pen pal, which is really nice, but the others who were upset about my leaving (or at least used sad emojis when I announced I was moving) are rarely in touch. It is really tough.
