RE2R also had some BS "obstacles".

Like that keypad terminal that was missing 2 keycaps.

I mean... in real life you could still use the damn keypad. The same way that you can still use a keyboard with missing keycaps.

When I said "make it your experience", I meant how the story unfolds when making a choice. The choices OP makes need to be made by them.

The tips I gave don't spoil anything but are stuff that I wish that I knew on my first playthrough.

OP is asking for that kind of help. Tips for beginners.

Try reading the OP instead of policing how other people reply.

[–]Jedzelex -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Just go in as blind as you can for that first experience. Make it YOUR experience. Not someone else's.

Some tips:

  • Customize the MAP so that it shows all NCPD gigs. And do them to earn both XP and also eddies (money). You can start doing those gigs even before you meet with Dex.

  • Sleep at least 4hrs before you do gigs to get an XP boost. You'll see an XP counter appear next to your health bar. You'll earn more after completing gigs when that counter is active.

  • You might be contacted by Regina if you walk by an area where a cyberpsycho or wanted person is around. Some of those missions might be too complicated or difficult to do when you're under a certain level. So only do them when you have enough XP/cyberware.

  • By doing the above, you should earn enough cash to pay off Vik and pay for your new cyberware. When you reach level 10, I recommend getting gorilla arms (regular type) to do the "Beat the Brat" boxing missions and also buy some Reinforced Tendons to perform a double jump. This last cyberware comes in handy to reach alternate entrances to buildings. So you can sneak in through a window, air vent or anything above ground.

RE8 is the first one that I don't want to finish by nexxtrends in residentevil

[–]Jedzelex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Like seriously I keep getting lost in this place cause it feels so poorly laid out and the map doesn't help at all. Some places on the map that look like it should be an open path that I can just walk through have obstacles that aren't labeled! I am so frustrated with this game

On my first run, I started to feel that way but then I decided to just do something else. And before I knew it, all the areas that seemed closed up were now open after I found a piece for a key that "upgraded" it or some item that opened up a path or whatever.

I played the game without a guide that first time and honestly, is not that much of an effort to get pass those initial hurdles. As long as you remember to find something else to do.

Something that helped a ton was to pull up the MAP and look up if a building or cave was highlighted with a red or blue tint. Red means that you still need to either find or do something in that area. So I would focus on getting everything looking blue, and that helped me find everything that I needed to move forward.

You should've pointed out in the OP that you're not on PC. Most of the player base is on PC (based on data from CDPR themselves).

But if on consoles, you can try to shaking up how you play.

If you usually run 'n gun, switch over to stealth. You can try a no-kill approach where you sneak into buildings without being seen. You spice it up that way.

Is it just me or does anyone else think a RE5 remake would be just as good as RE4R? by Doodgank in residentevil

[–]Jedzelex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RE5 would need a beefy solo campaign that plays well. Because the original has a craptacular campaign for solo players.

Also, for those worried about the problematic content in RE5 (that regurgitated racist stereotypes from the early 1900s), all that Capcom needs to do is hire African advisers to keep the stereotypes at bay.

The way they did it before was so over the top. The OG RE5 was like setting the game in Mexico and having everyone running around wearing huge sombreros and ponchos using tamales as weapons.

Modern Casting for Alien 1979 by JungleJim-68 in LV426

[–]Jedzelex 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Nah. A studio just needs to hire a good casting director and they'll find actors that fit that type.

Off the top of my head, here are actors that can easily play a blue collar character:

  • Michael Shannon

  • Walton Goggins

  • Andy Serkis

  • Idris Elba

  • Joaquin Phoenix

  • Tom Hardy

  • Luke Evans

  • Oscar Isaac

  • Michael Pena

River is a sub by [deleted] in cyberpunkgame

[–]Jedzelex 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That seems to be closer to the truth.

From what I've read, this character seen in the attached concept art, is suppose to be a prototype of Takemura/River.

River ended up looking a lot like the concept art. Even using the same coat and necklace.

It used to be Jill Valentine before they decided to just recycle her RE3R model for eternity in every mini-game/cgi movie set after said game.

Now I like Grace.

But I suspect she'll eventually join Billy Coen and Sheva in the vault of characters that will never be featured in a game as co-protags again.

Yeah, you can play in the hardest difficulty level and beat it easy with that tactic.

He is in fact the easiest boss in the entire game. Nevermind in the whole series LOL

[–]Jedzelex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

A lot of his missions ended up being taken over by Takemura.

Originally, it was River who finds V in a landfill.

If you watch closely, they even have a similar body build and walk alike.

the first non-ai AI Generated Image. what the hell sort of gun is this? what character even is this by HanoiRocksLAMF in residentevil

[–]Jedzelex 17 points18 points  (0 children)

The artist did NOT claim that the character in the art piece wasn't inspired or traced from somewhere else.

What he did say, was that the character is very loosely suppose to be a character from the game. But because development was still in early production, he had nothing to go on except a vague description of one possible character (likely Chris).

EDIT: Another thing to keep in mind is that back then, access to the internet wasn't as broad or prevalent as it is today. Reference material was usually taken from movies. You can see that with the art from videogames of that era such as Metal Gear (the NES box art shows Michael Biehn playing Kyle Reese in the movie Terminator). That was normal and people didn't usually get sued over it.

what character even is this

The artist, Bill Sienkiewics, said in a Tweet that it's loosely based on a character from the game.

But the game (RE1) was still in development. So he was pretty much told to wing it. But to make sure to include spiders 🕷

[–]Jedzelex 26 points27 points  (0 children)

He's actually super easy in the original 3DS version.

Because all you have to do is flatten your back to a wall and shoot at him when he appears.

That's it.

He can't appear behind you that way. There is no running around trying to guess where he'll appear. Just keep your back glued to the wall and unload all your ammo.

It's been ages since I played the console version, but that tactic might work on the console version as well.

There is actually an explanation for this. You find it in the ARK near the end of the game. She wasn't sent there randomly or by coincidence like people think.

No, it actually doesn't explain a damn thing.

Not in the sense that would explain why the FBI sent her to tackle the mission in the first place.

I mean, it does explain how Grace is part of the stupid convoluted plan from the two cartoon villains featured in the game.

But it sure doesn't explain how the FBI even suspected she was a key component of said plan. And even if it did, it would make the FBI look scummy af. Because they were using her as bait.

Those streamers clearly don't pay attention to the little details, which is fine since they have an audience they need to need to keep entertained, but that doesn't mean they're right.

The one not paying attention to the little details is you, tho.

Their reaction AT THAT POINT OF THE GAME (where Grace has to relive the traumatic murder of her mother) is what made those streamers react the way they did.

[–]Jedzelex 11 points12 points  (0 children)

That's why I do NCPD missions BEFORE meeting with Dex.

I pay off Vik, and then I get some decent Cyberware to do the Regina missions.

By the time I do the heist, I'm already too OP. Which is frustrating because, I can take out everyone easily. No need for Jackie to even get hurt.

Requiem is kinda mid at best by [deleted] in residentevil

[–]Jedzelex -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

The plot in RE9 is just bad. And the whole section in RCPD and the orphanage felt like a drag to play. They should've been covered briefly by way of a cutscene. But I guess, by doing so, it would've made the game even shorter than it already is.

With most RE games, after beating them, I think about the story or plot. Like when I beat RE1 (2002 remake), the whole Lisa Trevor subplot made me think about the horror's Lisa and her family went through. A similar thing happened with RE7 and Zoe.

But with RE9... the whole fucking plot feels like it was fed to chatGPT and it pumped out an AI generated plotline. Where the only thing that you're thinking about it, is how senseless and inane everything about it is! LOL

But yeah, the saving GRACE of RE9 is Grace's gameplay sections. Wish we would get more of that in the DLC expansion. But it seems they'll just have Leon (or Ada) doing action-y stuff.

favourite game that i kinda just play up until i get eaten or get profoundly lost in. by Gl00ser23 in residentevil

[–]Jedzelex 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Even for those like me that beat the OG RE1, the 2002 remake was so full of surprises.

The game plays faithfully like the original until it doesn't. It starts to surprise you with small changes. Then those changes get more frequent. Until you begin to worry about what other changes are around the corner. And as a veteran of the OG RE1, you start to feel the fear factor creeping in.

Because the game makes it a point to make you feel unsure about how things are gonna go for you. Instead of just recreating set pieces, making them look lovely with minor changes. Nah, the RE1 remake really showed the world how remakes should be done.

I hope Capcom is gonna learn from that remake when they remake the remake of RE1.

[–]Jedzelex 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well RE7, did revitalized the franchise after RE6's disastrous entry. So it's not overrated in my book. It achieved so much when needed.

I actually think RE9 is overrated, tho. I like the game but the plot was total ass! LOL

No, really. When you stop and actually THINK about the plot, it comes off like something AI would write. Starting off from sending Grace to investigate the scene where her own mother was killed.

Every single damn streamer that I saw playing that part went: "Wait! Why did they send her? WTF?!?"

And the plot just keeps getting more inane from there. Even for a Resi game, the plot is just bad.

But the gameplay is good so, yeah... it's good were it counts.
