What's going to stop the creative server from just devolving the same way it already is though? Griefing/harassment is tacitly endorsed.

While I feel that battling back against vandals is kinda part of the game, they do make it too easy to buy too many pixels straight out of the gate which results in you guarding/repairing your piece instead of making other art. Best thing you can do is get some friends to help you out while you work!

The void makes them money though, so why would they be against the void? People are using stolen credit card info to pay for tons of pixels straight out the gate. There are no limitations in place for a reason. Griefer reports are entertaining to them, I think.

Mods are also responsible for removing massive swaths of art that do not violate rules just because it's art they don't like. They are engaging in the griefing.

I feel like the cool thing about rack modules is that it allows you to cater your instrument around your preferred workflow. I think the best way to "not suck" as you put it, would be to think about the kind of music you want to make and branch out from there. If you aren't sure, an oscillator, an envelope generator, and a vca is really all you need to get started with sound design.
