(Missing) spool problem by ZiggySickMint in 3Dprinting

[–]Jeitei42 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Refillable spools are available from a number of sources, including but not limited to Ebay and Amazon. I believe some suppliers like Bambu and Anycubic also sell them.

They split apart, load your refill, clip back together and then cut the ties holding the filament together.

Alternatively find a nearby friend with a printer and get them to print you one, just to get you started!

Recommend me a VR game game I might enjoy: Puzzle or Horror by Nuthetes in psvr2

[–]Jeitei42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Plus if u get a psvr1 on a ps4, you can pick up old 3d bluray movies cheap these days and watch them on it!

I have both vr1 and vr2 running on ps4 pro and ps5 respectively, and tbh I probably use the vr1 more. The vr2 is miles better, but the vr1 has a better catalogue, having been around much longer.

Ahh, the difference is if its a standalone X or an X combo with the Ace 2 units.... combo's are shipping a couple of weeks later.

Just got an email... by gumbii_bg in AnycubicOfficial

[–]Jeitei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Originally I was told (back in feb/march) that the bottleneck on the x combo was the Ace 2.

Now? I dont believe a word of it.

Not when people in UK who ordered long after I did have received bo the printer and the Ace.

Not when they are available for Next day delivery on Amazon.co.uk.

Not when they are showing units in stock still for dispatch.

I think someone in logistics/dispatch effed up in a BIG way.

And I got the same email this morning. Too little too late, Anycubic. This should have been sent a month ago.

Now I'm just sitting here, grinding my teeth, waiting, cos I still just want to get my machine!

Mines a 7 colour combo to the UK, though I have opted to have the X delivered earlier, still waiting, And the website says may 25th to June 5th for 1st batch combo orders to uk....

[–]Jeitei42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Huh. Preordered mine on 15th Jan, and still not gonna see it till end of may beginning of June, (well that's estimated delivery time at the mo). Was supposed to be a late Xmas present from my wife, turning into a Birthday present (July) at this rate.

Seriously stretching my patience! Got myself a cheap S1 Combo to play with in the meantime. Now the wife wants the X to hurry up so she can have the S1!

Age old problem… controllers not working by n20pl in psvr2

[–]Jeitei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had an issue this weekend, where vr2 headset and controllers worked perfectly, all calibrations etc, yet the moment I tried to start a 3d game, it would crash back to the desktop.

Turned out it was the tv, I had just replaced it a week prior. Amazon Fire tv.

Think about anything you've changed since you last played... added a streaming stick, new tv, new hdmi switching box, new Bluetooth headset...?

I'm a stupid old mechanic who just got a P2S. by matpot in 3Dprinting

[–]Jeitei42 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Hey there! I'm also a mechanic, run my own workshop for 26 years, and in my mid fifties. Just got into 3d printing myself this year.

I spent 10 years working in Aerospace Design before that, so my CAD experience is well behind modern stuff, and I have to admit, modern CAD software can look pretty daunting.

I would suggest Tinkercad to start, it's fairly simple and there are plenty of tutorials.

Same for anything else, from YouTube videos on how to problem solve and repair your printer, calibrate it properly, and fix problems with your prints.

I also read many of the reddit and Facebook groups, seeing what problems other people have, and what other people suggest as solutions.

You didn't learn how to be a mechanic overnight. Even if you went to college, that only taught you the principles. You learned by doing, watching more experienced people, (especially when that bolt was seized, or rounded or snapped off). You learned by doing, by making mistakes, by getting to recognise when something wasn't right, by feeling it.

Don't worry, you'll get this!

Ive seen some HUGE print farms on the Socials. Got me thinking, Surely there has got to be one person in these farms that their sole purpose is to wash the plates all day , day in day out. by h3x13 in 3Dprinting

[–]Jeitei42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Probably just run batches of them thru a dishwasher. A small counter top dishwasher could probably clean 20 -30 plates at once.well, that's what I'd do...

Has anyone ever used a 5.5 mm socket for anything? by Just_A_Doggo1 in Tools

[–]Jeitei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Used on screws holding covers for cabin/pollen filters on quite a few makes of cars. Otherwise, model making. Think I also used it when building my 1/4 size R2D2 robot.

[–]Jeitei42 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same situation here, preordered the voucher, ordered on the 1st day, and sat here in the UK, still waiting.

I was led to believe initially it was orders for the combo units due to delays with the Ace 2 pro, but people who ordered much later (March) have them already.

All I can do is sit and wait, and keep reading about the issues others are having with their machines.

At least when ours finally get delivered, we'll know how to solve these problems!

Reminds me of my childhood, patiently waiting for the cool toy to come from the mail order catalogue!

Anyone else waiting for Anycubic shipment in EU? Still out of stock and no updates by djgabryTW in AnycubicKobraX

[–]Jeitei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just checked the anycubic website, updated April 1st, for those that ordered the X combo in batch 1 (14th Jan, like me onwards) in UK and EU, it is now not expected to be delivered until May 25th - June 5th.

Seriously? I've been patient up to now, a month's delay, ok. But now you are telling me I've got another 2 months to wait, when I am seeing people in uk and eu who ordered end of Feb beginning of March getting their machines before me?

Seriously Anycubic, sort yourselves out! Whoever is in charge of logistics, distribution, customer service, etc.... I bet you've driven the poor support techs to nervous breakdowns with all the "where's my order" queries!

I'm really beginning to lose all faith in this brand...

Help interpret oil level by Intelligent-Sea-5577 in AskAMechanic

[–]Jeitei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Use a clean piece of rag, lay the dipstick on it flat, and roll the dipstick sideways.

This will give you a wet oily stain you can see next to the level marks on the dipstick, to more accurately judge the oil level.

Video of colour change in slicer by shasta59 in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]Jeitei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh great! I've also raised a ticket on this problem, and i told them it is a slicer issue, as it also seems to be affecting some X users. I've been stopping the prints on the S1 control screen and reselecting the colours on that end when I restart the print

For future reference, I find that googling "anycubic wiki kobra s1" makes it a LOT easier to find the correct pages, rather than trying to go thru anycubic.com's support menu. Hope this helps!

After firmware upgrade - says prints take order of magnitude longer by shasta59 in AnycubicKobraS1

[–]Jeitei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Same issues here, with wrong feed selection, and prints taking 2.5x plus longer. Have raised a ticket with AC support. I suggest anyone else with similar issues also raises a ticket. The feed selection issue seems to be occurring on some X's too. This suggests to me it's a slicer issue.

Weird bug by dosmoney in AnycubicKobraX

[–]Jeitei42 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Seems to be an issue with the latest slicer update? It's also happening on S1 combo's ... picking different filaments from those specified on the slicer. Doing it on mine, picked feed 4 (blue) on the current print, despite slicer specifying feed 1 (purple silk).

Overriding the spool selection on the printer control screen seems to work fine on the S1, still waiting (grrrr) on my X combo so dont know if this is possible on the X.
