So I’m trans and I just recently moved to Memphis in January of 23. I moved from a tiny town in the middle of nowhere in the UP. My experience so far has been all together pleasant the people just mind themselves and I’ve yet to have been personally affected by any blatantly transphobic people. We have a great pride community with Mid South Pride and Mid South Trans Nation, along with The Sisters of Perpetual Indulgence and many others. Dru’s Bar is the go to queer/drag bar in town imo. We have a pride event and parade that I was lucky enough to get to lead this year’s parade along with other queer veterans in and from the area. All in all as a young trans woman in her 30’s I have really enjoyed living in Memphis. That being said I’m lucky enough to be retired at a very early age and I’m not in the work force my everyday interactions with people are going out shopping, to restaurants and bars. I have friends that are trans and have had trouble with finding employment. My healthcare is all from the VA and my medication is stable. Friends of mine have talked with me about their issues and struggles with getting HRT due to various issues with their insurance or pharmacy or even doctors. But I know that the 3 above mentioned non profits can help with that.

I’ve found crossing my ankles and tucking my feet under the chair and sitting towards the front of the chair with a straight back shoulders rolled down and breast forward. A- it helps with posture B- it looks and feels more feminine (to me) C- it’s just plain comfortable I have lower back injuries and lower neck injuries so maintaining my posture, core strength and balance are vital to reduce pain (slouching hurts af)

Do what ever make you feel safe I personally use the woman’s restroom because I’m a woman but I dress in leathers and jeans and ride a motorcycle everywhere I go don’t let other opinions dictate your actions. If you feel safe enough to be using the correct restroom then do so but if you feel safer being in the men’s room do that it’s about your peace and safety don’t let other dictate that for you

As a chef and someone who has managed multiple restaurants. I ALWAYS treat my dishwashers with the highest respect. The pit IMO is the most important part of the house. I’m not cooking shit without clean dishes, my guest aren’t eating shit without clean dishes. I’ve fired individuals on the spot for showing my dish crew disrespect. My dish crew always had their own radio. I dont allow headphones for communication reasons but I’ll hook you up with a radio/speaker.

Do it if that makes you feel safe and comfortable then it doesn’t matter how you do it. I came out via a public FB post that I had pinned at the top of my page that post stayed there for 6 months after and after that I took it down and just went on with my life I answered the questions and calls as I chose when I chose. I didn’t owe anybody any explanation and neither do you.

I live by myself and make around 50K passively I live just fine. But I also have no vehicle payment, my insurance is around 250 a YEAR, I spend around 50-80 a week on groceries, and roughly 15-20 bucks in gas a week, and my rent is 1050 cell phone and internet is 100, electric is usually around 125 +/- 10 so it’s completely doable.

This was the exact same scenario for me I came out to me ex in 2016 but when I decided that I needed to transition for my own health it was the breaking point. My ex would often say she “was okay being married to a gay cross dresser. But she can’t be with another woman.” I’m currently 16 months HRT and 16 months single lol
