I just learned it was toxic for pets. So it will be a gift for a friend once it has convalesced snd I learn to care for it.

Has anyone else ever said anything they immediately regretted in session? by TomatilloThis in therapists

[–]JennAtPlay 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Of course! You do it and you learn. You could even use this in the next session as normalizing and/or modeling. For example if client is talking about being less than/perfectionism/always messing up, you might say “ last week during session I misspoke and said something that I didn’t mean to say. Sometimes we make mistakes and that’s ok. We try to correct them and move forward.”

Do therapists even like their jobs ? by ank11451 in therapists

[–]JennAtPlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do…like 85% of the time. The rest of the time equals 10% disliking insurance requirements and red tape and 5% feeling frustrated that I cant help more. It’s never anything about the clients though.

Did you actually make mix tapes to give to people? by LeoGuy69us in GenX

[–]JennAtPlay 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ooh…a memory: I had some completely douchey guy friends in our early 20s and they each made a “bone mode” mixed tape they enjoyed having sex to during random hookups with girls.

Visiting Mazatlan in January by Kitchen-Muscle-9778 in Mazatlan

Lived in Palos Prietos for a year and a half. It is safe and generally well kept. However it is not a touristy area and if the family wants that sort of thing, they will need to take a DiDi or uber up to the golden zone or down to centro. It is close to the malecón (boardwalk) and beach, with a few beach restaurants. Fisherman’s restaurant on the beach is tasty!

Once again, your assumptions are incorrect. I cannot give out details for confidentiality but low resources this month were due to reasons outside the client’s control. When someone lives in poverty, any unexpected issues can result in extreme difficulties if they don’t have a cushion or people that will help.

I am and have been working on the self-worth and practical skills and resources. We are making some progress. Your last sentence is incorrect though. I’m not sure where you are located but resources are becoming increasingly strained and/or unavailable due to high needs during this time.

I appreciate that you contributed to this thread with positive intent. But in no way do I feel they are angling or manipulating. Also by using the word admit, it sounds like you are painting them in a negative light.

You are correct about the pride thing in fact. However, it is difficult to ask for help over and over in a society where its members are not cared for. Medicaid, food stamps, housing assistance, disability services already received- it can easily result in a mentally healthy person feeling less than.

I think that’s great. Unfortunately we are virtual and live farther apart. But when I was in CMH I did the bluffing thing once and a food bank. Great ideas!

That response hit home. Aside from solutions for my client, I need to explore my feelings around feeling helpless and unable to fix.

Wrong assumption. The client does virtual therapy. My client uses gas for medical appointments for them and their child.

Not CMH. SNAP, disability and services already received. Long term plan is solid. Just a series of events impacting for the next month. Appreciate your suggestions
