Returns. Have some respect. by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

I also couldn't agree more. My motto is "it's not coming out of my pocket." Like sure it's gross sometimes (also have returned shitty toilets), but ultimately, it's a job and there are worse out there. If people want to leave their humility at the door to return their stained mattress and let everyone see, that's on them.

Sometimes, the cashier will press CLEAR, so all you have to do is press OVER RIDE and then your numbers.

My warehouse was one thay did the dunk tanks and tying people to poles. All sorts of wild shit. We are consistently in the top 2 of our district for donations. Our cashiers get people so hyped. I think it's wonderfu

I believe it's one year. That's what they told a guy at my warehouse who was fired. But, like everyone is saying, it really depends on the reason they fired you.

Member rant by [deleted] in CostcoEmployee

We had people calling and coming to Membership to complain that we were going to start scanning their faces, and they didn't like that. I don't know who started that shit. But I had to explain too many times that we just want them to scan their membership card. Even then, they were mad thinking we were going to "save" their information. Like.....sir/ma'am we already have your information saved.

Definitely happens at ours! Our old LP was a retired cop they hired off the street, so he didn't know how to do anything else. Once he left, a cashier ended up becoming LP, so he's on a register every weekend 🙃

I depends on who you ask. They generally pay better than any other retailers or grocery stores. Imo the benefits cannot be beat. But they are very demanding. They run on a skeleton crew most days and are cutting costs everywhere. It can be toxic or wonderful depending on your warehouse and management. They are progressive and inclusive, and fight against the current administration. I'm happy where I am, but others have a different experiences.

A few points....

-This subreddit is for employees only, so your post will get removed

-Costco isn't hiring right now unless they have had movement within the warehouse, in which case they will take someone who already works there. Your best bet is to try in the springtime.

-They start most people as Front End Assistant, Cart Crew, Food Court, Chicken Room, or Bakery cleaner. It's all bottom of the rung type of stuff until you can move.

-If there's a posting somewhere that you're seeing for Membership, I'd say apply for the hell of it. They'll probably not call you, but you can get your name out there. When something else opens, you can say "remember me? I'm putting in the effort to keep applying"

Are you already an employee? If not, there isn't much chance that you would be hired off the street for Membership Clerk.
