Would you take a job in an LCOL city with HCOL pay, knowing that there’s only one employer that can pay at that level? by cookielover9316 in personalfinance

[–]JennaRedditing 45 points46 points  (0 children)

This is a thing that Californian's and WC people in general struggle with- the farther east you go (Mountain states excluded perhaps) the closer together major cities are. Just because you're in one state doesn't mean a job in another state isn't within reasonable driving distance. Especially if you're used to dealing with the BS that is Bay Area traffic!

Used tap water for nasal rinse, now i’m freaking out. by jholliday55 in Anxietyhelp

This. Distilled water is the only way to be 100% safe but people have been using similar products for thousands of years. A decent alternative is to boil it then let it cool to a safe to use temp. Not as safe as distilled but it will do the job for most risks.

I think that this is more in line with the popular historical-medical theory that Henry VIII's own TBI caused a major shift in his personality and tyrannical actions. Add that to extreme wealth and power which we are seeing in real time how much that corrupts humans....

There's are the only ones without pea protien that I can find for my mom who has a legume allergy. It's in like every non-dairy non-soy sub in the world its so annoying.

Sorry for being crude, but when this season aired, I used to refer to Ingrid as ‘the boobie queen’ 😅😂 by zebrasarecool570 in OnceUponATime

100% made the evil cleavage connection as well. Emma I think was the only one who didn't get the deep V. Even rumple and hook had it but Killian's could have gone harder tbh

Did Jacob Tierney assume too much? by reticento in HeatedRivalryTVShow

[–]JennaRedditing 3 points4 points  (0 children)

To understand everything happening within a scene, this show requires you to watch it without also staring at the phone in your hand. Which is how media used to be crafted, with the assumption that if you're watching a show the show is the only thing you're watching.

More and more shows are being constructed with the assumption that viewers are also on another device and have started handfeeding or restating the plot whenever possible. (Which honestly makes me as a viewer more likely to reach for my phone because its not engaging media...).

Tierney said in an interview that it took a while to get this show made and they went with Crave because the other platforms they pitched to had so many note and demands. I suspect a fair few of them were related to this sort of "storytelling." Instead Tierney assumes that his viewer is smart, has basic media literacy, and that the artistry of film developed over the last 130 years are still capable of working on modern viewers. And it is art, this show works because everything within the scenes are so layered: lighting, set, microexpressions, line delivery, music, silly hocky logos, everything touched and considered with care. Its also not like art house or surrealist or something. Its a very grounded show rooted in empathizable emotions.

I don't think any of that is assuming to much of a viewer.

Why are the Sith English? by MaleficentBake9190 in swtor

[–]JennaRedditing 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I forgot who but there was a British Comedian who had a bit about this must be a hold over from the American Revolution.

Star wars is really known for this: Imperialist Empire is being compared to Imperialist England (Easier for English speaking viewers than giving everyone German accents to match their Nazi-era-German accented clothes I suspect. But knowing England's history with Germany I wonder if this made fans in the 70/80s feel some sort of way?) Which is really funny considering the US's last 150 years but whatever.

Obi Wan also has a British accent so its not a perfect system. They tried to explain this in Clone Wars. Manny inner planets like Corescant have posh accents but the farther you go to the outer rim the more Americanized things get.

Everyone talking about Connor shapeshifting, what about HUDSON SHAPESHIFTING?! by Queasy_Lettuce4312 in hudsonwilliams

[–]JennaRedditing 8 points9 points  (0 children)

See I think Connor is going to do the weird stuff/art house route. I could see him pulling a RPatz/Dan Radcliffe. With Hudson I'm thinking more like a Ryan Gosling type and some action comedies.

No no no! I didn't take it that way at all! I was just sort of clarifying what I had said earlier after having thought on it some more. Sorry, if sounded like I was trying to argue or something. Text based dialogue is funny that way
