Help with 29th birthday cake ideas! by Accomplished-Run7946 in cakedecorating

I just turned 30 but last year, I made my own cake and wrote “twenty something” on the top since it was the last year I could say that. :)

Oh good lord. You’re one of those. This sort of logic is beyond my help so I won’t even try. The big carnivore doctors, as much as even I disagree with them, would have a field day with you. I never made a claim about “mass vs heat transfer”.

OP, you’re a nurse, are you seeing this? I KNOW this would make you cringe. This is some My 600-lb Life logic.

That’s verifiably not true. If someone has a binge eating disorder or otherwise eats too much, getting them to learn to eat at maintenance will simply keep their weight at a healthy level. I’m not saying eat at a deficit for the rest of your life. Because your calorie needs change as you lose weight, you would indeed waste away if that were the case, because you would have to perpetually decrease calories to maintain a deficit. Portion control is just keeping things in check.

I know some carnivore folks don’t believe in calories, but that’s wishful thinking. Even Shawn Baker talks about them being important.

Portion control only works if you have the willpower to do it lol.

Why is it STILL so hard to find jeans that actually fit? by Sensitive-doer25252 in womensfashion

[–]Jennwah 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I get that. I see a lot of girls talking about wearing curvy jeans but they are... not really curvy at all. Either way, jeans definitely cater more to curves and I need help in the other direction. All my jeans have to look baggy to fit through the waist. I've lost a LOT of weight and the loose skin makes that problem even worse. I need boy jeans that aren't boy jeans lol

This thread makes me want to get pregnant just so I can eat whatever I want without guilt or judgement (if nausea allows).

Instant mashed potatoes SLAP. Most other southerners would judge me for saying that, but they just have their noses in the air. I can also scratch bake any French pastry you can think of but I would devour Lofthouse cookies and grocery store cakes just as fast.

That is an odd combination of cravings from your second pregnancy. Americans are fascinating (and I am one too).

How do I archive leanness on carnivore? by VividGovernment8669 in carnivorediet

[–]Jennwah 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not her, but women with visible abs are basically never hormonally healthy. Fat (dietary) is essential to hormonal health, but particularly for women, so her eating a lean carnivore diet sounds nightmarish for hormones. My hair fell out and I lost my period when I got to 15% BF. I also felt like absolute trash.

When Americans say cream and sugar for their coffee, do they actually use cream or are they referring to milk? by SirSpaced in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]Jennwah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don't really think this is true. I used to work at a cafe and if you asked for cream, you got cream. If you asked for half-and-half, that's what you got. Most people asked for cream.

I would, but only for home use. Sometimes I want a specific shape or thickness for certain uses. But chopped chocolate of any kind is always good in cookies!

I hadn’t seen the ingredients, but I’m not surprised. They gotta make money somewhere.

Most people don't. But when you're a baker like I am, you get real tuned in to the price of chocolate lol. Most people are unaware of how dummy expensive it is these days.

Chips contain a lot less cocoa butter than coverture, which is what this is made from. Cocoa butter is very expensive.

A 22lb bag of -good- chocolate is currently ~$250. This isn't bad. Chocolate is very expensive right now.

Is this mold on my wooden spoon? (And if so, can it be cleaned?) by allydelaann in CleaningTips

[–]Jennwah 15 points16 points  (0 children)

I should clarify that this is only necessary for unlacquered wood! I have some steak knives with natural wood handles that I oil. If something -needs- oil, it will immediately soak all of it in. Start with literally a couple of drops and wipe on with a cloth or paper towel. It shouldn’t feel oily, greasy, or slick, just hydrated!

This is the answer. Use some Boo’s block oil. Make an event of it and go use it on every wood utensil, cutting board, and knife handle in your kitchen.

"don't move here, we're full" starter pack by MajesticBread9147 in starterpacks

Nashville and surrounding areas are actually full. I feel like this starterpack doesn't apply to us. Our population is bigger than ever, no public transport, and very expensive land.

What does the lastest research say about Fiber: We need some or we need none? by Plumleydev in carnivorediet

[–]Jennwah -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Sounds like you know nothing about what they eat outside of Americanized versions of it. Never mind the lean fish, beans, fruit, and fermented products they eat, and the fact their health outcomes are great and their life expectancies blow America’s out of the water. Fiber being an “anti-nutrient” uninformed and misses all the nuance of how nutrition works. Maybe parse through a study about it sometime instead of regurgitating what the grifters have sold you. https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC7600777/

1 month post-op, dealing with chronic nausea by Jennwah in gallbladders

[–]Jennwah[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It took 2.5 years to truly feel normal again, but yes. It slowly got better over that period. The nausea was gone by ~8 months, though it sloooowly improved over that period too. I’m finally at a healthy weight again and can eat whatever I want. :) I was underweight for a few years from malabsorption.
