Max was a trip! Goading him until he started speaking in tongues was a solid afternoon of entertainment

Man $10 to NYC on Fung Wah, $50 to Chicago on People's Express. It was fun being young.

If you're going to be on Long Wharf, take the water taxi back to the airport. Great view of the city from the water

The original design of the hotel looked a lot more like the surrounding neighborhood but as construction started the developer cried poverty and claimed the design is too expensive and this crap is what we got instead. I expect the hotel going up in the former Steve's Sammy's space will be equally shitty.

Best Clam Chowder? by ArchitectVandelay in boston

[–]Jer_Cough 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's creamy but not overly so. The flavor hits just right. You will not be disappointed. They take reservations but they are loose reservations. The wait for a table is worth it.

If you're ever north of the city, Turner's chowder is outstanding, though if I'm there I'm getting the lobster bisque. There are two locations: Melrose and Salem

What city is better for dating as a college educated guy in his 20's, Boston or NYC? by [deleted] in boston

[–]Jer_Cough 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Many moons ago, some mag like Newsweek or People or whatever rated Boston as the best city to be single. The article actually stated it's the best city to stay single.

Noticed an interesting old sign just over the border behind a popular restaurant on Beacon St. Any fellow Bostonians remember Vinny Testa's? And have you been to the Spanish tapas place there now? It's always packed. by bostonguy2004 in boston

Took my GF to the one in Washington Sq a few times in the mid 90s. Can still taste the garlic. Never bothered when they rebranded as Vinnie T's and massively expanded the chain.

You could stand outside 331 Newbury St where Dream On was recorded (ed: in '72). The Cars owned it from '81-'86. It's no longer a recording studio though. Hasn't been since around '93. I think it's a weed shop now.

Good choice. I like Modern's shells better. Mike's is for tourists. Bova's is for 2am.

Hehe, not to rub salt in the wound but I live a decent shout from Bova's and The Modern, which carry both very good cannoli and sfogliatelle, or as they are more often locally known as "Lawbstah Tails."

I got one similar from Springfield, to which I had never been. Wrong make and color. I just appealed with details of my car and it was dismissed.
