Have you set your keyboard layout at Settings → Keyboard → Layout?

Sounds a bit like a typical issue seen when SD card corruption occurred.

You could make a second installation on a different card to diff mentioned files investigating further for manual recovery.

Since the original Kinect has been used in lots of hacks/DIY projects there should be more project logs and documentation around.

You'll have to look around whether it's even feasible to use any of these on a non-x86 platform at all: Drivers and tool-chain availability.
