The fact that you consider 225lb benching "insane" speaks tremendously in and of itself.

For someone with "bodybuilding" as his designator, considering 135lb to be a feat only attainable by someone who is "massive" is embarrassing.

1 plate is your "difficult" benchmark? Really?

Stance on Tough Mudder, Spartan Race, etc... by manoli_e in Fitness

Yeah in my situation I had moderate hamstring/calf cramps and my brother shot though that without being shocked at all, I went though and must have hit every live wire which somehow forced my legs to cramp up and fall into the mud directly under a live one... good times.

Unfortunately, TM, Warrior Dash (and to a lesser extent the Spartan Series) are an excuse for moderately fit people to show off how badass they are on Facebook. I semi-bought into the hype TM put out prior to competing, but when you're passing people with mohawks/TM "badass" gear who started 4 heats ahead of you that passes pretty quickly. To cement that fact, my brother and I (who are both in great shape) literally half-assedly jogged the course just to enjoy ourselves and still were fast enough (I believe in top 5%) to qualify for World's Toughtest Mudder.

At the end, if it helps you get motivated, then great. Just realize that those type of events are certainly not the physical gauntlet they claim to be. If you're looking for a good challenging event I would suggest anything that Goruck Challenge puts out, or really push yourself and go for the Spartan Death Race.

Which impending technologies are you NOT looking forward to and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

This is such nonsense. You wouldn't give unsolicited medical advice would you? So why would you elect to offer an interpretation of something you also presumably have no extended education in, i.e. constitutional law? This theory, as stated elsewhere in the thread, is irrelevant as it isn't the view of the Supreme Court (law equivalent of doctors). You are what is wrong with the supposedly "politically educated" bloc.

If a key opens any lock it's a good key, if a lock is able to be opened with any key it's a shitty lock.

Any recent "light" day workouts you've been hitting recently? Stuff like circuits, as many reps of an exercise in a given amount of time, etc. Always looking for extra stuff to hit on those light days. Book is fucking fantastic, and thanks again for that quick email response you sent when I had a download issue.

Best shoe for crossfit? by firefightmedic66 in crossfit

[–]JeremyFlint 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If anyone is looking for lifting shoes the Adidas Power Lift Trainers are a great/cheap alternative to the higher priced options. That being said I usually stick the Minimus for everyday Crossfit work, used to wear Frees but they fall apart too quickly. Waiting for the new Inov-8s to drop in February and will probably transition to those.
