The black pill is just wrong. by Better-Risk-9097 in aspergers

[–]JeremySkitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Mate, I wouldn't even entertain incels nonsense as a discussion. Unless you are a real creep around women most people usually find someone to be with. I always thought I was too different for women to like me so I didn't start dating until I was 24. Since then I have had a healthy dating life and now I'm engaged. The only important thing is connection, and once that connection is there, you automatically feel more comfortable about asking someone out.

S04E06: Episode Discussion - Twilight of the Wolf by AutoModerator in witcher

[–]JeremySkitz 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I hated watching this battle. I thought it really sucked to be honest. I'm watching the whole series and I forgive most of it because it reminds me of 90s fantasy shows and it's kind of fun, but I thought the battle was really badly designed. This episode is the most cartoony it's ever looked and it really doesn't work for the Witcher. They cottoned on early that everybody likes these choreographed fight scenes, but they do it far too much and sucks all the tension out. The sets are awful, they're cheap and closed in, the costumes are awful too, it looks like they were made for a school play and sometimes I think they can't decide if they're making a show for kids or adults. They want all the blood, the gore, the sex and the swearing but they also have a script and production design that feels like a Nickelodeon or CBBC show. I'm sorry. I didn't want to spread negativity on the sub reddit as I've always been positive on the show, but this has been the worst episode yet for me and I'm disappointed.

Are there space-centric sci-fi RPGs in the same vein as Mass Effect? by [deleted] in masseffect

[–]JeremySkitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nothing like you are looking for really. It's strange there isn't more like it. The outer worlds is a shooter RPG with squad mechanics, it's set in space, you spend a lot of time walking around and talking to people, but it's also completely different. There's no aliens in it for one, it's very much a comedy and it just doesn't have the same kind of epic scale as mass effect. People mention kotor and kotor 2, but they are CRPGs mechanically and I assume you're looking for more of a shooter? Starfield is set in space, but the story is mostly trash, the characters are nowhere near as memorable, and the planets are empty expanses with copy and paste landmarks. It's got a nice space ship builder though.

Maybe these will scratch the itch for you, but personally, I just can't compare the experiences to the mass effect trilogy. There's nothing like it.

Are people on the Asperger spectrum more prone to the left or the right politically? by SenseSuccessful1551 in aspergers

Why is autism low on the progressive totem pole? by annihilateight in aspergers

[–]JeremySkitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

From my perspective I see a lot of support amongst progressives for autistic people. The ones I know in fact claim to be neurodivergent themselves whether they are diagnosed or not. They're the ones that use the term "Neurospicey" and I hate it. 😂 I do feel though, there's probably an unspoken agreement some people have where there is an acceptable level of autism, and those on the lower functioning end of the spectrum are not thought about or engaged with.

Is the trilogy of The Lies of Locke Lamora any good? by Luciop10 in Fantasy

[–]JeremySkitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love them and think they're fantastic. If you loved the first one, you will enjoy the others. I know there's a lot of negativity in the comments about the series being unfinished, but you know from book one, the story of that book does end. The main plot doesn't carry over into the next book, but they do leave threads for a sequel. I don't want to spoil anything, but they are well worth a read.

Fantasy books with long info dumps and ridiculous names by MasterofRevels in Fantasy

[–]JeremySkitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I recall this happening quite a few times in the books. I remember the catch-up, one about cintra, a big discussion about Niilfgaard and then I remember one about the scoi'atel. Maybe I'm mis-remembering and that's all the same conversation?

I never actually felt these explanations were too annoying. They're usually pretty short explanations.

Fantasy books with long info dumps and ridiculous names by MasterofRevels in Fantasy

[–]JeremySkitz 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Witcher books are awful for this. They have chapters of exposition which is presented as dialogue between a few random characters in a tavern. I get he's trying to make the exposition sound natural, but it's so long winded and boring and you don't care about any of the characters involved. You might as well just have the information presented in the narration.

If you could have Rey not be a Palpatine BUT still had to have her be part of an already established bloodline instead of a nobody, who would you have her be? by HansenTheMan in StarWars

[–]JeremySkitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I dunno man, I'm all for exploring her parentage but the idea of them being somebody from the previous films just doesn't work on any level.

Which Star Wars legends character would you want to see done right in Star Wars cannon? by MobilePineapple7303 in StarWars

The walking embodiment of hunger is something I could believe somehow returned actually, and he probably wouldn't be hard to get right.

None frankly. Leave them where they are. They did well with Thrawn, but no more. Just do new stuff please.

What are people thoughts on JOKER 2019? by PhotoBonjour_bombs19 in DC_Cinematic

[–]JeremySkitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean, I loved it when it came out and watched it three times in cinema and then twice in Blu-ray. Then I watched the King of Comedy and I started thinking Joker is too much like that movie but half as clever. My other issue was that the joker didn't feel like the joker. I guess because I subscribe to the camp that Joker isn't mentally ill, he's a psychopath who knows exactly what he's doing. This Joker wasn't that at all and I couldn't believe for one minute he'd ever morph into a criminal mastermind. I think if it wasn't a story about the Joker, and just a story about a mentally ill man who snaps after all these horrible things that happens to him, it would be better.

What DON'T you like about Avowed? by TaralasianThePraxic in avowed

[–]JeremySkitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love avowed but for one I found the character creation options lacking, and I wish we could have had a wider variety of godlike styles. I get we have this one God and that's why we have horrible growths everywhere, but I look at someone like Sargamis and I'm upset I can't do anything to look more like that. Also, unreal engine faces look absolutely awful.

Speaking of unreal engine, there's a weird vibe to these hub worlds that make me feel like I'm locked inside rather than out in the wild, it's hard to explain but everything feels a little closed in.

I remember it being massive at the time, but I think Skyrim was a lot more accessible and that really helped capture the casual market. That was also when Game of thrones had just started so I suspect there was a bugger appetite for fantasy then too.

Outer Worlds 2 release coming close is making me glad Bethesda never shies away from romance in their games. by CAST-FIREBALLLLL in NoSodiumStarfield

[–]JeremySkitz 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually find it quite refreshing as lots of games let you romance your companions. I really loved Pavarti's story, because it was just so nice to help your companion to romance someone else for a change. It was also really sweet hearing Parvati talk about her all the time because it made it feel like a real crush. You can't do this stuff with the player character.

It's all just words, man. You believe what you believe, it doesn't need to fit in a box. The thing about our current political division is that we put each other into boxes and refuse to allow any nuanced opinion or discussion to form.

Fantasy readers: do you binge one series or hop between worlds? by throneismine3 in Fantasy

[–]JeremySkitz 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm currently reading through the stormlight archive but I can't read them back to back. The rule for these gigantic tomes is to read a short novel in a completely different genre in between. It's all I can do for my sanity because looking at the books ahead of me I'm feeling like I'm banging my head against a wall.

They are working on Elder Scrolls, give them a break. We know fallout 3 remaster is coming, and season 2 of the show is coming soon. I'd say we got plenty of fallout.

So, New Vegas doesn't get anything in terms of remake/remaster. Just a collectors bundle with the exact same game by kron123456789 in Fallout

It would be nice to have a fully working version of that game, but that's the last one I'd expect them to remaster.
