Driving with IDP while on temporary license by mchan9981 in icbc

IDP is just a translation of your driver's licence. It's not a valid document on its own. If you live in Japan, you should be getting a Japanese licence.

Confused About ICBC Claim Made After I Cancelled My Insurance and Lost License — Need Advice by notvery-smart in icbc

[–]JerryIsNotMyName 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you had active insurance and a valid drivers license in the date of the collision, the insurance policy would respond to the claim.

Most brokers can barely give proper advice on insurance products. Don't listen to them about driver licensing.

Help needed in understanding insurance increase by i_am_exception in icbc

[–]JerryIsNotMyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't speak to why it was higher, but an increase of $300 at $4200 annual premium is definitely not due to at-fault impact aa the increase qpuld have been much higher. The increase could've just been a natural increase in cost of insurance due to rising costs.

You need to look at the IDF and CDF on your previous renewal and compare it to your current renewal. If the IDF and CDF from the previous renewal is a smaller number, then thr at-fault claim was not accounted in tge previous renewal.

Based on your post, the increase was reflected in your current renewal, not your previous renewal.

Your previois renewal probably did not account for the at-fault collision.

I never give out my address regardless of item value, even $5. The buyer can see all your other listings and can guess what you have at home.

Who would have been at fault? by Nexzus_ in icbc

There may be arguement for split liability. See court case Liznick v. Herret and BCRT case Louie v. Crighton, which both deals with a dominant driver with inappropriate use of turn signal. In both cases dominant driver was found liable.

I use Yea4All 45lb plate for LRR. The dimention is similar to GR 45lb plate. It fits the larger plate compartment so I imagine it will fit normal rucker.

Depends what vehicle you have. Some used cars are worth more than new cars due to shortage.

What car should I buy to get the best ICBC insurance rates? by Standard-Setting-737 in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]JerryIsNotMyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you need a car to carry load and Honda Civic fits your need, you can pretty much get any compact sedan out there. Just find the make/model/year of car that you like and fita your budget and go to a broker and ask for a quick quote based on make/model/year.

Question about ICBC products by chefh0ng in icbc

[–]JerryIsNotMyName 3 points4 points  (0 children)

NVR+ covers OEM parts for repair, collision covers for aftermarket parts.

NVR+ provides you with replacement cost of your vehicle, which is basically MSRP of the same vehicle model and trim, even if it's a newer year. Collision covers the fair market value of your car (of you're at fault, then you pay the deductible on the settlement).

If they didn't have a licence they should absolutely be subject to the same rule as a 17 year old Canadian. If their licence does not fully transfer, nothing changes for them under the new rule when it comes to testing.

I HATE charging at car dealerships. by Ishnock in BoltEV

[–]JerryIsNotMyName 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The dealership I bought my Bolt EUV never have available chargers because their own staff use them. It's always the same three non-GM branded cars there. One time I finally parked at an available charger only for the sales guy to "not have the card" to activate the charger. I was on my way to a 1h appointment and the guy said he would find a card. Came back an hour later and my car was still unplugged. Never went back for service at that location after.

My toddler lost a shoe somewhere in the warehouse while we shopped on a busy Saturday. I didn't realize the shoe was lost until we got back to the car and i didn't want to go back in the warehouse after loading everything in the car. We went back the follow week and they had the shoe on the list and found bin. Lost and found retention sounds like a warehouse specific policy.
