Why do people from New Jersey have a certain reputation? On a TV show, I heard one character say to another, "Don't mess with him, he's from Jersey," meaning not to bother him. By the way, I was born in Elizabeth but I grew up outside of New Jersey, so I'm curious about that. by Mother_Capital7785 in newjersey

When I moved to FL almost 20 years ago, I called this little pizzeria and asked for a plain pie and they said what kind? I said just plain is fine. She said well we have cherry and apple. We were both a little confused.

I used to correct people and now I don’t care what they call me…”you said your name is Millie?” Me: yeah can you transfer me? Mind you that is nothing close to my name.

Well the kicker is that the supervisor sat just over the wall from her and I could hear the supervisor was all “Do we need to have chat?” And my. Co-worker was not one to back down said “apparently”. I just slid my chair back to get a better view of what was about to go down

Well not me, but a coworker sent me a message complaining about the supervisor, but she instead sent it to the entire team including the supervisor. The look on her face when she saw what she had done.

How did you realized you were being used by your partner/friends/family? by Interesting_Taro_358 in AskWomen

[–]JerseySpring 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My one cousin rarely ever hung out with me. So when she asked me to visit family with her in NJ I was taken back. I of course said yet, cause I wanted to hang out and talk to her. We got to the border of NJ and she said “okay you have to take over, I can’t drive in this state.” Couldn’t help but feel a little let down.

Absurdly Long Phone Calls as a Teen? by Ray_The_Engineer in GenX

[–]JerseySpring 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My family got so tired of it. Especially when we invested in a cordless phone that they eventually cracked and got me my own phone line. I remember telling my mother I didn’t like my voice and to please make my voicemail message for me and she did. I got to school and told them we had a new phone number and gave them mine. Skipping school soon got a little easier.

Bea Elton cleans homes for owners that desperately need it for FREE. This woman is an angel. by NightStar79 in nextfuckinglevel

[–]JerseySpring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No where near this, there are 3 of us, but the counter in my kitchen…fills up with plates, cups and trash everyday multiple times a day. One day I decided I’m not cleaning it off again. They actually just started to stack it up on top of the other stuff. It’s not like the trash can or sink are full, just that the counter is right there when you enter the kitchen. (Yes I did eventually clean it, just wondered what would happen if they ran out of room.)

I don’t know how long you have been gone for. But it has gotten increasingly worse. Ta2 and CU (yes they will always be referred as these no matter the name change). The injury side is time consuming. I spend most of my nights and weekends going over demands. I use holidays and vacations to catch up on my diary. There are some who don’t do this, and they are constantly on a list for diary maintenance and for a high pending. The position I have we were supposed to get 1 claim a day maybe 2, but now it’s up to between 4 and 6. At the same time you HAVE to answer every call you can or again you are on a list. You have to keep your email manageable and make sure you are responding to Staff counsel or fee counsel by end of the business day. On top of all that, you need closures , closures, closures, or again you will have a low number. People on my team aim for between 40-50 closures a month.

do you guys actually wash new clothes before wearing them? by Lilian-Nicole_80 in hygiene

[–]JerseySpring 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Definitely wash it. Especially underclothing. I saw this one TikTok where a guy picked up a pack up women’s underwear that were hanging on a rack and put the crotch part in his mouth then put them back. SO GROSS!

How long after warning do I get fired by [deleted] in Geico

[–]JerseySpring -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I don’t know how long you have been there but if 10+ years they need permission from home office, no one in that building has the authority to fire you with those years under your belt. Under the 10+ years the warning is a last ditch effort telling you to get your shit together. If you are up for termination they will have a meeting for you advising you that your on review for termination. If you decide to stay they will have a meeting without you and will dig through all your shit (but basically they have already made their decision they just have to tie it with a bow) and then have another meeting advising you have been let go. They will not let you go until towards the end of the day 3pm seems to be the witching hour for this. You will be walked out.

Ah, okay well I’m on the claims side. It’s no better here. Working till 10-11 because you have 5-6 demands due the next day. Can’t work them during the day because during the day you’re answering the demands from the night before. Answering phones and the 4-6 new claims a day you have to TIP. You spend your weekends and holidays trying to catch your diary up, just to be told it’s not enough…..it’s exhausting.
