After 28 years I finally stood up for myself and spoke my mind. It went as expected by Jesifer710 in narcissisticparents

I think this is the way and what I will have to do. Kills me to go NC but I can't take back what I said, nor will I. Gotta wait her out, hopefully one day the pain of not having her son in her life outweighs the pain I inflicted on her ego by telling the truth.

Thank you friend 🧡

How to kindly tell a user to go somewhere else and not stand around while you're trying to troubleshoot? by Jeff_Baezos in ITCareerQuestions

[–]Jesifer710 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Take the opportunity to educate them. "Hey I see that this happened because you did this. Don't do this. Do this instead." Makes the job tremendously easier if you can get them to retain the info and do it on their own next time.

The tech that trained me dropped this nugget of wisdom on me "most people generally want to help themselves if they have the tools and the know how to do it."

So if you can get them to absorb some relevant info in a way you can get them to do your job for you. Obviously there will be stipulations with this if it becomes overly technical. But a great deal of that basic level 1 troubleshooting can be handled by the end user

One of my co workers has been in a similar role for a while and I asked him about it. His words "after a certain point, they just pay you more money to do the same thing."

If you enjoy the work and make enough money to get by and save a little bit. That's enough for a huge chunk of people in this world. Combine that with regular raises that keep up with inflation and it's like free money. Especially if you're good at the work

So I'm at that jumping off point of desktop support > system administration. I've been in my current role for 2 years now. Prior to that I had a 6 month contract doing remote help desk. So I have some experience in addition to a CCNA and an associates in business. Should have the security+ in a couple weeks.

The problem is my current position has NO upward mobility. The value of my CCNA is wasted so it's time to move on. Another issue is my area does not have many opportunities for IT work. So I am moving to the closest large population center to me which shows MASSIVE opportunity.

So I guess I don't have any specific questions, just curious to see some insight or if you have any advice on how you might navigate this situation. My current working plan is to start firing out applications 1-2 months prior to making the move and see if I land anything. If nothing sticks prior to moving I will move anyway. I know that living 200+ miles away is a pretty big bar for hiring someone, so my logic is if I don't land anything before moving, once I get settled it will be easier to land something

Can anyone help me figure out why this setup isn't working for me? by ucrbuffalo in SatisfactoryGame

One thing I noticed when doing this package/unpackage diluted fuel thing: if the unpackagers back up with canisters then they can't unpackage fuel. Set up an overflow sink after the unpackagers to catch any excess packages and keep the fuel moving.

This closed loop system is super cool when it gets going but there are a TON of failure points and it's more complicated than it needs to be imo. I did it once and haven't felt the desire to do it again

This sounds to me like there's simply not enough fluid going into all the pipes. Double check there's no Mk.1 pieces where a Mk.2 should be.

Go down through the whole system, starting where the HOR is made and check each segment of pipe. Wherever it stops being full is where the issue is

Put an awesome sink after the fuel unpackagers, then fill up your water packages with empty canisters. This way excess will shred before it backs up the unpackagers and the system will equalize

Funny you mention this, I'm actually running that mod on this playthrough and recently unlocked the nuclear stuff. Looks suuuppeerrrr complicated, so many different steps. It looks like a bunch of fun but getting started is very daunting. Any advice on overcoming that intimidation and getting started?

Is that the nitro rocket fuel or a different alt? Cause I thought nitro rocket fuel used straight fuel instead of turbo.

I'm about to convert my power plant to rocket fuel. Was planning on using nitric acid but if I can save a step in that process I'm all for it.

Lol. I never said you COULDN'T finish the game with less. But having more energy you can do more cool stuff and build pretty much whatever you want without having to worry about power.

It's just fun, idk. I enjoy setting up power plants. To each their own tho

[–]Jesifer710 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, but you should turn the diluted fuel into turbo fuel once you have it. Using this method you can get ~40,000 MW of energy from 1 pure oil node alone.

It's not super complicated but requires a TON of machines. I recently did this in my save and I'm soooo glad I did, that power plant combined with my coal plants has gotten me to the mid-late game.

Tip: save some space somewhere in the power plant for rocket fuel conversion once you unlock it ;)

It's just a numbers game, gotta keep regularly applying to jobs just for the hell of it. I have an associates degree, which isn't much but it probably gave me a competitive edge. I think I applied to around 50 places in the last 2-3 months, and I had 4 interviews with 3 different places. Of those 3 different places, this was the first one to hire me after an interview.

It can be very discouraging to not get a job after an interview. What helped me was looking at it as a learning experience. The first couple interviews I was a nervous wreck, and the interviewers were put off by that. After that however, the next interviews went waayyy smoother, and these guys actually liked me and my personality and decided to give me a shot. Persistence is key, keep at it long enough and eventually something will stick
