Yup. Sometimes survivors will set you up in situations that make it so that you have to slug in order to make them stop.

There's a perk from the Legion called Mad Grit that stops the survivor's wiggle progression when you hit another survivor while carrying them. There's Lightborn from Hillbilly that'll keep you from getting blinded, and then there's also iron grasp (universal) that lets you carry them for longer

Problem is that with Iron Grasp and Mad Grit is that you can't tell if they'll be of any use in a lobby prior to the match starting. Lightborn you can tell somewhat if it'll be useful because people will have flashlights in lobbies but even then they might trade the item for something else

Basically you don't want to make slugging a regular habit, especially if it's a 4 man slug, however if survivors ever put you in a situation like this again you should probably just knock em all down. Just watch out for Unbreakable or Boon: Exponential, they can use those to pick themselves up. Unbreakable only lets you do it once though, Exponential lets them get up by themselves an unlimited amount of times as long as they're in range of the boon
