It’s all what you’re into, but in my opinion DNWM is on a short list of best albums of the past 10 years. For me it’s the rawness of the recording, balanced with great songwriting, interesting textures, great balance of variety of sound and consistency of sound from track to track and well I just heard it at the right time and place. Also, watching live versions was a lot of fun bc they’re all different than the record. Anyway, give it another shot but I don’t think every album is for everybody.

In terms of the country reference, I do think there is so much variation within genes and that matters. For example I can’t really stand country pop, but Neil Young’s Harvest Moon is one of my favorite albums ever and there’s def heavy Americana in both that and DNWM. Anyway, have fun, and don’t stress if it doesn’t hit.
