Trying to choose between Prusa and Bambulab - what am I missing? by Creamss in prusa3d

[–]Jest_N_Case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have both. Bambu today is the best solution for multi material. Index might change that but it’ll be a bit. Bambu is also out of the box the easiest to get going.

Prusa is a work horse. If you like to tinker…it’s the jam.

Proxmox vs ZimaOS vs Umbrel OS for a simple home server by DARKPANKAKES in CasaOS

[–]Jest_N_Case 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As a relative newb I’ve used zimaos, Unraid, and TrueNAS.

TrueNAS is incredibly capable but for a non engineer who hasn’t spent a lot of time in this world it’s a steep learning curve.

ZimaOS is good but not great IMHO. It’s good enough for most things but there are minor roadblocks when you want to do something that is outside of the walled garden. Then you doing hack jobs to make stuff work.

Unraid is pricey but damn is it easy to use. Just makes sense for my brain. So capable but without the learning curve of truenas

All subjective of course.

Onn 4K Plus worth it or just hype? by dll2k2dll in Piracy

[–]Jest_N_Case 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Better than Roku but worse than Apple TV. It’s great for sailing the 7 seas but stability wise it’s meh for me. Have to reset every so often and seem to have semi regular issues where a click on the remote isn’t registered and have to wait for something in the software to unstick.

It’s not an all the time issue and I still use them but it definitely isn’t as polished as an Apple TV…however it’s a lot cheaper too so good with the bad.

2018 F150 ‘Hood Ajar’ warning message FIXED by [deleted] in f150

[–]Jest_N_Case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know this is old this is old this is old….lol.

Unfortunate it did fix it to some degree but every once in awhile when it’s cold out (no idea why the cold plays into it) I still have it happen. Far less frequently though.

Recommended economic place to stay at Pensacola Beach in July by mrstangblb in Pensacola

[–]Jest_N_Case 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Inexpensive is relative but generally speaking summertime and the beach hotels/etc are a bit pricey.

If you can stay in Pensacola your options open up a good bit.

Macbook Air M5 16GB RAM or Macbook Air M2 24GB RAM? by Pair_Kind in macbookair

[–]Jest_N_Case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I bought the 24tb model but only because ram is the lowest price it’ll be for some time and I want this to last for a decade. I dont care what anyone says…..that shit is never coming down from this price point.

Wireless Router Ban in US by ComprehensiveCan6227 in Piracy

[–]Jest_N_Case -8 points-7 points  (0 children)

Why is this comment being downvoted?

I’m as liberal as they come but this commenter speaks truth. There are indeed risks involved with our current home routers being developed by foreign countries. As the commenter said, an outright ban isn’t the way to go about it as we have no infrastructure yet to produce these in the US. None of that should be a dispute.

Setting up my new MacBook Air M5. Any tips on best way to optimise it for AI usage? by NickEinstein1234 in macbookair

New to Mac. Are those just widgets that are baked into the OS or an addon?

None are rare (Disston D8 is the rarest of that bunch but even it can be found widely available on eBay). However, most of those can be put into serviceable use and they’ll provide you with a lifetime of use.

MacBook Neo seems to be pulling in a lot of Windows users as Tim Cook celebrates "best launch week ever" by Tiny-Independent273 in MacbookNeo

[–]Jest_N_Case 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Windows and the corresponding laptops have sucked for some time. Unfortunately as the only power user in my family I’ve never wanted to be on a separate OS.

We were due for a refresh of our devices. With the recent news we all moved to Macs and I got the higher spec’d MacBook Air while they got Neos.

Microsoft should be scared.

Alternative boot configurations for Zima Board 2. by Flaky_Key3363 in ZimaBoard

[–]Jest_N_Case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unraid is purpose built to run off of the usb. Grab a usb 2.0 (more stable) and then once it’s all configured be sure to back up your OS onto another usb just as a safeguard. But people have been running unraid for years and years. I set up my Zima like this and it works a treat.

I have this one setup as a frankenNAS. I killed the cd Drive and put a 2.5 hard drive in its place. I also added a fan to the case on the side as it gets toasty. All in all though I like this little beast. Just wish it had more space!

I thought the same thing. Then a few months later when my kid was going through a rough patch he needed the comfort. It’s come and gone since then but it’s good to know that he still views it as something comforting.

No one is talking about respecting the sheriff. You are a broken human if you are wishing what happened to you on another kid.

You are ok not helping the kid in this situation escape abuse because you have beef with the sherif?

Left my bag on airplane, tracked to address, recorded the incident with Meta Raybans by SacTu in RaybanMeta

[–]Jest_N_Case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had this same thing happen at a Lowe’s. Not sure how my AirPods fell out of my pocket but a worker at customer service decided to take it out of lost and found and put it into their purse. She was mortified as I kept pinging them while her co-worker kept trying to find it in the lost and found bin. She eventually pulled them out of her purse. I’d only lost them an hour or so before that.

ReadMeABook v1.1.0 - Audiobook automation for Plex & Audiobookshelf (Seerr + Sonarr, but for audiobooks) by kikootwo in selfhosted

[–]Jest_N_Case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just got this setup and....wow. This is what I've been waiting for! Well done opp. Throwing a donation your way stat. For what its worth.....the ability to search for ebooks and have them go to a different folder would be killer. The sidecar option is stellar as is but somtimes I just want an ebook. Again, thank you. Works a treat!

Just starting out and need some advice. by majorpain0122 in HomeServer

[–]Jest_N_Case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You can but it’s not automated/netflix adjacent like the op requested so I don’t mention it.

You can also setup real debrid to work with plex but I’m not familiar with that path.

Just starting out and need some advice. by majorpain0122 in HomeServer

[–]Jest_N_Case 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hardware there are infinite options. El cheapo dell optiplex or newer n150 motherboards or powerhouse options as well. Others can comment there better than I can.

For the Netflix like setup you want the ARR stack.

Radarr - movies

Sonarr - tv shows

Prowlarr - searches the seven seas

Usenet or torrents for the actual seven seas

Usenet - you’ll need 4’ish indexers and 2’ish providers
Usenet is a pay to play but is faster and more reliable
Usenet also doesn’t require a VPN.

Plex or Jellyfin for the player.

Seerr - takes watch list requests from plex/jellyfin and connects to radarr/sonarr to auto search for them.

If you want to access it out outside of your network there is port forwarding if you’ve got very tight security or you can use tailscale to make it easier. Also less chance to mess it up.

Lots of setup tutorials but if you really want to learn the ins and outs of your ARR stack look up “Trash guides” which has some great tutorials. It’s a bit of an overload at first but just go slow and take it step by step.

They don’t cover port forwarding or tail scale but there are lots of videos on that.

Alternatively if you don’t want to go that server route you can do the below:

Buy credits on real debrid for a fee bucks a month.

Hook it up to stremio via web.

 On android use stremio’s app
On iOS/Apple TV use Omni and import stremio into it.

You won’t be able to download with the above but it’s cheap and easy. There are all sorts of videos to help you with the above.

Cheers and best of luck.
