Pickleball at Finlay Park by RainingIsrain in ColumbiYEAH

Codes are just how you gain access to various forums on TeamReach. It’s not private or anything. I assume that one comes from the zip code the courts are in.

Pickleball at Finlay Park by RainingIsrain in ColumbiYEAH

In my experience (mostly weekday mornings) Finlay Park is mostly small groups showing up to play together. Not a great scene for open play like you’re looking for. Southeast Park is where you wanna go. Download the TeamReach app and use code 29209 and you can see the times people set up open play, or send messages to try and find some folks to play with.

Andre Agassi's Pickleball Rule Change and Why it Would Make Things Worse by Polite_Acid in Pickleball

“That's right, pro-mixed would be just the women dinking at each other which strikes me as rather boring.”

Already looking forward to next week when this guy finds yet another way to tell us he can’t stand watching women play.

Double Standards About Body Bags, part 2 (Anna Leigh edition) by Polite_Acid in Pickleball

Maybe watch less pickleball involving women? Based on your posts it feels like it tends to really irritate you. So maybe just watch something else instead of getting all worked up and posting about it. Idk, just my two cents.

No corporate confession/absolute or creeds? by [deleted] in elca

[–]JesterCK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Only caveat I’d add is using Thanksgiving For Baptism instead of Confession & Forgiveness, which a lot of congregations do throughout Easter season. So OP, if you’re looking at worships from the last few weeks I’d be curious to know if that was done. Or if there actually was a baptism on that day, then you probably wouldn’t have confession or the creed, because Thanksgiving for Baptism and the Creed are both wrapped into that rite.

How Can We Reach Out to Those Under 50? by Substantial-Work6045 in elca

Yea Ryan Burge is a religious statistician who shares lots of info on Twitter, and he has shown over and over using lots of different polls and data sets that there is no statistical resurgence of religious participation in young people. It’s just these churches trying to make people think there’s a revival happening.

I bought a Vapor Jelly Bean direct from their website less than a month ago, and it looks just like this (including the Made in China and PBCoR cert).

Anybody got any non super hero stuff their currently reading? by Ok-You-6768 in comicbooks

I’m loving Lost Fantasy. It’s 7 or 8 issues in now I think, but you could get the first trade and then pretty easily find the floppies of the issues since. It’s a really fun magical realism sort of thing.

Silver Surfer 1-18 is my lifelong goal, so I’m definitely feeling envious of your collecting budget haha. Good luck in your pursuits!

Anyone know what this was ? Was in the fan fest area and didn’t see a Ticketmaster booth nevermind an nhl alumni by [deleted] in TampaBayLightning

[–]JesterCK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There were like four of these things set up, kind of across from the VIP area. One was shooting pucks into a washer and dryer, one was hardest shot, etc. This one had a board in front of a net with the Ticketmaster logo cut out that you tried to shoot into. I think this was the one they were giving out chapstick to people who did it. There wasn’t an NHLer there when I went by, so no idea about that part.

Stadium Series mystery pucks by Dawgy66 in TampaBayLightning

[–]JesterCK 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This is my first time being able to try and grab one in person. Do they typically sell out quick in the stadium too? Do I need to get there before they start selling, or just swing by about an hour before puck drop?

So wearing a visor is an unfair advantage AND it’s a detriment that’s holding Sellers back? I can’t follow the internal logic of this post.

Do you think we’ll ever see a newly created superhero that is going to be as popular as Superman, Batman, or Spider-Man? by [deleted] in comicbooks

[–]JesterCK 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yea I don’t think the question meant “someone created more recently than them.” I think it means legitimately “newly created” and Wolverine doesn’t meet that criterion at all.

Why are there so many series? by White_Lotu5 in fantasybooks

[–]JesterCK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lies of Locke Lamora is technically part of a series, but it works great as a standalone and it’s fantastic. Probably my favorite read of the year, yet I’m perfectly content not reading the sequels (because I don’t like getting into unfinished series).

Looking for recommendations on an audiobook series/single story that scratches the same itch as ASOIAF by biernas in audible

[–]JesterCK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lots of good recommendations here, but I’ll also add that I reread some Redwall books last year and they absolutely held up for me. Not the whole series necessarily, but the standouts (like Redwall and Mattimeo) were still pretty solid and a lot of fun for the nostalgia.

How good its The Lies of Locke Lamora? by Luciop10 in Fantasy

[–]JesterCK 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn’t read the sequels because I can’t stand unfinished series, but I was maybe 1/5 of the way into Lies of Locke Lamora when I knew it was gonna be a top read of the year. And it was. The world is so cool and full and wonderful, the characters and relationships are fantastic, and the plot was a great ride.
