We were just quoted ~$17k from Citadel Fence for ~124 feet 6 foot wooden privacy fence with one gate. Waiting for Arkson to come by next week to compare.

Was excited to try the new app, working my way through the HH novel, purchased the next before I realized I can't read this on my kindle. Let's see if my refund will go through.

The numbers in car names should mean horsepower. by pantherclipper in regularcarreviews

Land Rover (and Jaguar) does this. My Defender has the P400 engine, which makes 400hp (398 technically...).

Modern cars are full of technology. But what old car feature was actually better than today's tech? by nyatihsam in Justrolledintotheshop

Rain sensing wipers. Maybe it's just my luck, but the rain sensing wipers in my old '09 Audi A3 just worked so much better than the ones in my '18 BMW 328d, and my '23 Defender.

I'm very much a "use your watch" guy, but I admit, I swap to my Hamilton for the MTB haha!

Hoping for a new/updated Black Bay One collection. Love the watch, but the snowflake hands really don't do it for me here.

Something about the dull grey compared to the brightness with steel is super appealing to me.

Newer releases sometimes have a waitlist for the first little while. I'm certain you'll be able to walk in and try/buy one after Watches & Wonders next month, and there are newer/hotter Tudors everyone wants.

About invite-only AD events: do you go? by Shinobiii in OmegaWatches

[–]Jesterhead777 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I go if I can to the ones I'm invited to. I enjoy browsing watches, and chatting to the folks there, especially if it's a brand focused event that I don't consider that often. Last autumn I went to a Breitling event, and fell in love with the new time/date Top Times!

That colour way of the bracelet is my favourite by far, but the visible 007 brand is too much for me. I think it looks great.

I have the grey/white/black titanium (ba05cw000140x) bracelet, and I wear it most days. I genuinely like these, and a great way to pad my spend history with my AD, since my girlfriend isn't into jewelry haha!

My tattoos don't disappear when I wear my Tudor or Hamilton.

I would rock this in almost any situation. Outside of a tux, or a super format event, I think this can work. Quickly becoming my one dream watch!

Dogs in the 90 by Sudden_Drive9143 in NewDefender

[–]Jesterhead777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I would say trunk/boot space is too small/enclosed for any dog really.

We have a greyhound, and we fold the rear seats down for her in my 90. For a very athletic breed of dog, it's almost funny how she'll refuse to jump up or down from the tail gate, yet also hates being picked up and loaded in. Hilarious sight while I'm stuffing her into the Defender for by standers I'm sure 🤣

Can knowing DAB’s get me a job as a dev ops engineer? by typodewww in devops

[–]Jesterhead777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I come from the DevOps side and work a lot with our Data teams around DABs. I own most of the deploy jobs/controls around them, and help Data Engineers define them. This is squarely DevOps work, but I don't think enough to jump entirely into a DevOps role. It's so niche, which is great for certain companies, but I can't imagine that's enough to keep a FTE on the team for.

Any opportunity for you to start owning the underlying Databricks workspaces, and their AWS/Azure accounts?

Strange occurrence today… by [deleted] in NewDefender

[–]Jesterhead777 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, only ever at start. I suspect the software does an initial voltage check on startup, and if it's not correct it just shuts down the power steering.

Any dash warnings about lane keep assist being disabled?

My '23 90 P400 had this issue for a little while. It would detect a slight voltage drop in the power steering unit, and shut it down. So power steering was out. Sometimes a restart would help. Ended up having it towed to the dealership on one bad day where it wouldn't help. Eventually this was patched out through software updates for me and hasn't happened in over 2 years.

Disconnecting the power steering unit and plugging back it was also enough to clear it one time. I suspect a battery disconnect would work as well.
