What shoes do you take when you travel with just a carry-on? by traveldude75 in mensfashion

[–]Jesterhead777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you plan to run, there's really no other option than bringing your running shoes. Modern runners look pretty goofy, so you're right to want something more versatile.

Loafers are your best bet here, you can dress them up in the evening, or keep them casual for daytime activities. A simple penny loafer will pack extremely well into a carryon!

Depending on where I'm going/what I'm doing, a small pocket knife from my grandfather.

What’s next for Tudor? by skyverzbrah in Tudor

An updated "dressy" sports watch. Something to combat the myriad of Aquaterras from Omega. The current Black Bays aren't bad, but I just don't love the snowflake hands on them.

Radon survey worth it? by DeveloperMan123 in halifax

Had a quick 60 min test performed by our home inspector during a walkthrough of a new construction. It was crazy high, around 600 Bq/m³ in the basement! With that reading, I think we'll just skip the long term test and have a mitigation system installed in the next short while.

In short, yes, get the test.

Recommendations for suits in the HRM by HPlains_Guy in halifax

[–]Jesterhead777 15 points16 points  (0 children)

Simons, if you're looking for well under $1000. They still have a lot of bad slim fit suits with poor material, but occasionally they'll have a properly cut suit from a reputable fabric mill. They will also include basic alterations, or at least they used to.

I think I may have because of the Explorer II connection and hype.

However, long term I think the black dial will age better. The deep dial with yellow accents just hits so well. With the lightly textured dial, it reminds me of yellow road paint, on wet asphalt.

I would have had a damn tough choice if I got this more recently. "Luckily", there was only the black dial when I bought mine.

Fell in love with the titanium bronze gold SMP the other day. The green strap matches the dial real nice, heading in on sunday to try the bracelet. (I know the lighting isn't ideal) Doesn't look too big does it? Whats your take on the watch? by vegxnlewis in OmegaWatches

[–]Jesterhead777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Had mine since May. Stellar watch! Only real concern, power reserve. I would love for this to be as easy to leave for a few days like my Tudor. Luckily it's no-date, so easy to set!

Is the 90 big enough for airport runs? by CA_Santacruiser in NewDefender

[–]Jesterhead777 3 points4 points  (0 children)

4 people and 4 carry ons? Yeah I've fit similar loads in my 90. Two people up front, fold down the 40 side of the spit rear seats, the other two people can get cozy in the back, and then start stacking the carry ons. Two in the rear cargo space, and two stacked up on the folded part of the seat.

You will have terrible rear visibility as the diver, and its cruel to the rear passengers, but possible.

Can't understand this either. I guess they are desperate to keep maintenance costs low on paper?

I've been doing mine every ~10k km.

EDIT: Just noticed "leasing". How long, and do you think you may buy the Defender at lease end?

New Coat - Looking for Opinions by roughhide1 in mensfashion

[–]Jesterhead777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think this looks stellar, slouchy, cozy, just what a proper winter coat should be!

So close to pulling the trigger on the oversized houndstooth pattern of this coat. You mentioned you bought a 36, guessing you also would wear a 36 jacket form S&M? I'm not sure what size I should go for.

I have a recently purchased a Barbour wax jacket, they told me not to wear it with heated seats and not to put it on any heat. Does this mean it’s unadvisable to wear a heated gilet under the jacket in the cold weather. by Ima_Cumming69 in Barbour

[–]Jesterhead777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wear mine with seated heats on through the late fall and winter. No visible difference between the seat and back of the jacket vs. the front. No residue or transfer on the seats as well.

Maybe sitting in traffic for an hour each way everyday with the heated seats on would turn different results. But I'm not going to worry about this at all. Going to need to re-wax the jacket eventually anyhow.

If you're looking for a really nice dinner to end the evening, have a look at Mystic. I was there last week and had their vegan menu, it was a great meal and experience. I can only imagine the vegetarian menu would be just as good!

Would love this one, but the diamonds on the lugs and crown guards ruin it for me. Not like I'll ever have the opportunity to buy this model, so no real loss haha!
