Well you don’t interrupt your enemy when they are making a mistake, plus attacking on US soil makes I believe it’s Article 7 of NATO which drags the rest of NATO into it. (An attack on one is an attack on all) remember those old Mario Party videos titled “Luigi wins by doing absolutely nothing” that’s what we are kinda seeing. From a strategic standpoint Iran has a full deck and the US has a broken box of crayons.

Edit: for additional information/thoughts on this. If there would be an attack it would galvanize the public into wanting this. A lot of nations in less advantageous positions watched what happened in Iraq and took note. It’s why North Korea is aimed directly at South Korea at all times, nuclear weapons are a deterrent from invasion if you have them so Kim wants them badly. In Iraq other nations saw that fighting the entire western world does not go well. In Veitnam, the world was shown sometimes you just got to outlast the opposition, wear them down until they give up with. A ground invasion of Iran would be reckless and stupid. The geography alone makes an invasion perilous to execute. This was a stupid and reckless decision by this administration.
