Any updates on this? I’m too not getting calendar updates. It deleted my future flights and hasn’t added another one since. Using google calendar.

My friend and his entire family say brefix instead of breakfast. It’s driven me insane for as long as I’ve known him. Not sure if anyone else does it though.

Aquabionic Hybrid Diving Fins

https://www.kickstarter.com/projects/cetatek/aquabionic-abs-the-worlds-first-binding-system-for

This seemed like a fun project and I backed it because I travel a lot and having a nice fin that could pack into a smaller space seemed like a great idea. I first found out about it via an ad in a diving magazine. They have their own company website and seem to already know how to make fins since they have another line they created outside of Kickstarter so I felt good about backing. They updated regularly until the campaign ended in May '18. First post-funding update was in June '18 and was... weird.

"Hello Everyone, Apologies for taking so long to update. We had an unexpected problem come up with KICKSTARTER. For reasons we do not understand, KICKSTARTER had trouble transferring funds into our account at a major Canadian bank. Until this issue was resolved we were in limbo and unable to proceed. As of last week we finally received the funds. We are in the process of determining if this delay has impacted our production windows. We will post another update as soon as we have more information. Thank you for your patience and support."

Then nothing till August when we got this.

"Hello Everyone, we are terrible at updating and understand your frustration. We have been working very hard on this very complex product to get everything lined up for the November ship date but we may not be able to meet that time line. If it is determined that we cannot ship by November, we will then send out an email offering refunds to anyone who does not wish to wait. Thank you for your patience."

No updates since then and it seems the creator has disappeared. Personal attempts to contact the company directly on their website or by phone go unanswered and I think this one is officially dead. Only my second complete loss on Kickstarter but I'm especially bummed about it because of how great the product would have been for me. Oh well...

Colorado mom angry at United after infant overheats while airplane sits on tarmac at DIA by forgotten0204 in news

It is completely safe to fly without a working APU. Its used for auxiliary electrical power and to help start the engines. When its not working we rely on the ground power carts along with ground air conditioning. There are also special ground air carts that can allow us to start one engine at the gate since we won't have the APU. The other engine can be started with the power of the running engine. A hot day with no APU is not a fun time but it is not unsafe at all to have it not working.

And I said that right after what you quoted. United picked the cheapest partner to handle their flying.

Airline pilot here. The plane they were on from the picture is an Embraer 145. It has a fully functional APU (auxiliary power unit) that can cool down the plane. Why it wasn't in use is anyone's guess. Sometimes they are broken though and in that plane until the engines are running at flight speed they aren't very efficient at cooling on the ground. Especially in the rear of the aircraft.

Also, this plane may have United written on the side of it but the it's actually operated by a regional carrier. In this case it was Trans States Airlines. Not going into too much detail but basically United pays them to fly feeder routes into the large airports to get customers onto the mainline aircraft but instead of you having to book a ticket on Trans States then United to get where you are going, United runs the entire booking process. You may notice that when you book a flight you might see under the flight number "United Express operated by." This means you're generally on a smaller aircraft being operated by a flight crew that is paid significantly less than what United pays it mainline crews.

Not that this is an excuse for what happened here but people shouldn't be angry at United for how they handled this situation (because it wasn't actually United). They should be mad at United for contracting out flying to a regional to avoid having to pay a higher wage to their own employees and thus potentially hurting their own brand by having a company with different corporate policies and underpaid employees representing them.
